How do I talk to a human?

I am about ready to set something on fire. I filled my 2020 taxes on time through Turbotax. My returns were accepted. It is Dec 30th 2020 and I have not received my taxes. I have tried calling the IRS all year long and each time the automated system cannot find me or says call volume is too high and hangs up.

So you can imagine my rage when TurboTax does the SAME THING! Their online chatbox says there are no representatives available. It says their phones are down. It gives me an ID number and a phone number to call and thr automated phone service cant find my account and hangs up on me!!!

For crying out loud! I have a million questions but I cannot get answers unless I speak to a human being! I've been using turbotax for 6 years without issue. But if I don't hear from someone I sure as hell wont use them to file ever again.

Can a real live person just please help me for 10 **bleep** minutes???

First of all it was your 2019 tax return.  2020 is not over yet and we don't file 2020 until late January.

Do you mean your Refund? Are you sure it was Accepted?   When did you file?  Did you efile or mail your return? They didn't start opening the mail until June that's been stacking up. Back in March the IRS closed their processing centers and stopped processing mailed tax returns.
See this IRS page for the latest information
https://www.irs.gov/newsroom/irs-operations-during-covid-19-mission-critical-functions-continue

If you efiled....Was your return Accepted? When you efile you get back 2 emails. The first email only confirms the transmission. The second email says if the IRS (or state) Accepted or Rejected your efile.

Then only the IRS can tell you. IRS Where's my refund https://www.irs.gov/refunds/
Make sure you are using the refund amount from your actual federal tax return and not the combined amount Turbo Tax showed you at the end. That was for federal and state combined.

When you log into your account you should also see the status and if it was Accepted or Rejected, Started, Printed, Ready to Mail, etc.  what does it say?

When will you get your refund,

Yes I am obviously talking about my 2019 tax refund. I filed on time through turbotax like I do every year. Yes it has been accepted. I am not an idiot. I got my state refund but have not received my federal refund or my stimulus and YES I qualify. The IRS website says that I and my veteran husband do not exist in their system. All of these details and more are just something I want to talk to a person about on the **bleep** phone for just 5 minutes! I want to know what is happening and what to expect when I do file for 2020.

Can someone just give me a contact number or email to a turbotax employee?????

Once a tax return has been Accepted by the IRS or a State, TurboTax receives no further information concerning the tax return or the status of any tax refund.  Only the taxpayer listed on the tax return can obtain the status of a tax refund or a tax return.

After the tax return has been Accepted by the IRS (meaning only that they received the return) it will be in the Processing mode until the tax refund has been Approved and then an Issue Date will be available on the IRS website.
See this IRS website for federal tax refund FAQ's - https://www.irs.gov/refunds/tax-season-refund-frequently-asked-questions

Call the IRS: 1-800-829-1040 hours 7 AM - 7 PM local time Monday-Friday
When calling the IRS do NOT choose the first option re: "Refund", or it will send you to an automated phone line.
So after first choosing your language, then do NOT choose Option 1 (refund info). Choose option 2 for "personal income tax" instead.
Then press 1 for "form, tax history, or payment".
Then press 3 "for all other questions."
Then press 2 "for all other questions."
- When it asks you to enter your SSN or EIN to access your account information, don't enter anything.
- After it asks twice, you will get another menu.

Press 2 for personal or individual tax questions.
Then press 4 for all other inquiries
It should then transfer you to an agent.

If you have transmitted your return to the IRS, you will have to contact the IRS for information.  TurboTax does not issue refunds and IRS does not update Turbo
Tax on your refund status.

This is the toll free number to the IRS 1-800-829-1040.

Your e-filed return is still in pending on the server because the IRS is currently accepting/rejecting/processing returns.  Sometimes it can take more than 48 hours to process. Only a few returns were accepted early in a test batch.  Everyone else has been waiting.   Please see the TurboTax FAQ below for more information on pending returns:

https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/return-status/help/what-does-pending-mean/00/26331

Once your tax return has been submitted, the most up to date information will come from the IRS.

It can take anywhere from a few days to 3 weeks to update. Until the IRS starts processing it on their own, you may not find record of it or the website may say that you have put in incorrect information when tracking your federal refund. As your return moves through the system, the status of it will be updated accordingly. Continue checking the Where’s My Federal Refund?  tool for updates.
