How do i get last year's w2

TurboTax does not have a copy of the W-2 or Form 1099.  It would have W-2 and Form 1099 worksheets that included the tax data from the forms that were entered.  The worksheets would be included in the PDF of the tax return in the tax year the return was completed.

Copies of a Form 1099 would have to obtained from the issuer of the form.

If you cannot obtain the W-2 from your employer, then for a fee you can get a complete copy of a W-2 from the Social Security Administration - https://faq.ssa.gov/ics/support/KBAnswer.asp?questionID=3836

You can get a free Wage and Income transcript from the IRS - https://www.irs.gov/individuals/get-transcript

For a fee of $50 you can get a complete federal tax return to include copies of W-2's, if you mailed the tax return and included a paper W-2, from the IRS by completing Form 4506 - http://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/f4506.pdf

See this IRS Tax Topic - http://www.irs.gov/taxtopics/tc159.html

As stated on the back of the W-2 -
Keep Copy C of Form W-2 for at least 3 years after the due date for filing your income tax return. However, to help protect your social security benefits, keep Copy C until you begin receiving social security benefits, just in case there is a question about your work record and/or earnings in a particular year.

Contact the employer for the 2019 form W-2.

If unable to get the 2019 form W-2 from the employer then use the steps in this IRS website - https://www.irs.gov/taxtopics/tc154

First try to contact the employer, if you can not reach someone :

  • Call the IRS for assistance at 800-829-1040. The IRS will call the employer or payroll provider and advise them to send you your W-2.
  • Request or download Form 4506-T. You will receive W-2 transcripts which will have information reported by your employer to the IRS free of charge. .

The 2018 AGI is on the 2018 Federal tax return you filed Form 1040 Line 7

https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/agi/help/how-do-i-find-last-year-s-agi/01/25947

To access your current or prior year tax returns sign onto the TurboTax website with the userID you used to create the account - https://myturbotax.intuit.com/

Scroll down to the bottom of the screen and on the section Your tax returns & documents click on Show.  Click on the Year and Click on View adjusted gross income (AGI)

Or go to this IRS website for free federal tax return transcripts - https://www.irs.gov/individuals/get-transcript

If your tax return continues to be rejected with the 2018 AGI then enter a 0 (zero) for the AGI and e-file again.

If this is also rejected then you will have to print and mail the tax return.

See this TurboTax support FAQ for printing a tax return for mailing - https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/printing/help/how-do-i-print-and-mail-my-return-in-turbotax-online...

TurboTax does not have a copy of your forms W2 only the entries made from that form.  You might contact your employer to get another copy.

Another option is to request a "Wage and Income" transcript from the IRS.  That will have all the federal information but no state box (15-19) information.  Here is a link to make a transcript request.
