Typically if your child was already claimed, your tax return would be rejected if you attempted to e-file. This would usually be indicated by error code R0000-507-01.
Did you have a question in regards to this post? @Bstan
My claim been rejected twice! What i need to do ? I guess someone claimed my kids already!!
If you qualify to claim the child under the IRS rules, then file a paper return and claim the child as a dependent. This will prevent the e-file rejection. This will also start action on the part of the IRS to determine who actually qualifies to claim the child.
Can u tell me if somebody claimed Nigeria amire ruth
TurboTax does not have access to filed returns so it is not possible to answer your question if your child has been claimed by someone else.

How find out someone else claimed my kids on there taxas
@95ce8f369885 You cannot find out if someone claimed your child. The IRS will not tell you. But if your return is being rejected for the child's Social Security number, you will have to print, sign and mail your return and let the IRS sort out the problem.
When you mail a tax return, you need to attach any documents showing tax withheld, such as your W-2’s or any 1099’s. Use a mailing service that will track it, such as UPS or certified mail so you will know the IRS/state received the return.
Federal and state returns must be in separate envelopes and they are mailed to different addresses. Read the mailing instructions that print with your tax return carefully so you mail them to the right addresses.

There is no way to know this and the IRS will not tell you. You have to file your tax return including your dependent. If the return is rejected because the IRS already received a return with the dependent's SS number, then you will have to print and mail your tax return, including the dependent child on the return.
My grand daughters mom has claimed her for the past 3 years how can I get that money back and file against her
@Blythe Matthews As already explained in this thread, if someone else claimed a dependent that YOU can claim on your own tax return, you have to file your own return claiming that child by MAIL. You cannot e-file. If you did not file or claim the child for those past several years, you can still do so. Those returns must be filed by mail. They cannot be e-filed.
You say your grandchild was claimed by the child's mother. Who did the child live with? The IRS cares about physical custody and who the child actually spent the most nights with. If you are the one the child lived with, then you can claim the child on your own tax returns. File or amend returns as far back as 2020 if necessary to claim the grandchild on your own tax return.
