I also agree. Do not use TurboTax! My taxes are very simple and I selected the free software and the standard deductions. TurboTax online told me that because I'm a homeowner, I'm required to pay for the Deluxe preparation. However, when I went to another free site to prepare my state tax return, I discovered that NO other site is charging me for a federal return except Turbotax. They attempt to trick consumers. Customer service refused to help me or refund me. Use another service or prepare to be ripped off.

You cant... their website is garbage.. wont accept payment via credit or debit but when you click pay with return (which costs more) it magically works... then they make you consent to giving away personal info before you can even file... add ons and more add ons that are completely worthless..file somewhere else...

Are you able to call back and speak with one of our experts who will be happy to assist you?

 

Additionally, once you file your return, as long as the settings to receive communication from Intuit don’t block it, you will see a pop-up message or receive an email with a survey asking you about your experience. 

 

We encourage you to leave your notes and comments there. “Voice of the Customer” notes and comments are read and acted upon. 

If you are using TurboTax Desktop, you can also leave feedback at the Final Steps tab.

How do I file a customer service complaint

After answering "no" and "customer service" to the bot for about 20 plus questions, I was privileged enough to wait 10-15 minutes for a representative, Jasmine (silent "J" pronounced "H") who hung up on me after correcting me about pronouncing her name and listening to 2 sentences from me.  Not calling back.

 

It is the ONLY way to contact them. that 800 number and a bot plays 20 questions.

Hi Suzi,

although you say that Intuit does not want this for their customers, I had the same experience as those who posted on the customer service forum.  I have used Turbo Tax Desk Top since 2019, downloading each year.  I buy it at Costco.  This year, it would not download.  Said I have to upgrade to Windows 11.   I have no clue why software that just needs to be updated for the current year needs that much Gb.  After reading the consumer complaints here, I am not sure I want to upgrade the computer and lose all the previous data on my Intuit Turbo Tax account.  I count on it bringing it forward every year.   I tried the customer support phone number and was hung up on after waiting a long time (and over 20 bot prompts) for a live person Jasmine (pronounced Hasmine) who hung up on me after 2-3 sentences.  If I get an answer from you, great.  If not, I guess the BBB and AG are my only recourses.  Not only do I have a Costco charge, but not looking at the "online version" charge as well.  Intuit could fix this easily (by allowing the license for the desk top to be used for the "online version" filing.

Your scam for the return being withing 5 days is a horrible way to **bleep** over the USA TAX PAYER.  YOU NEED TO REFUND MY MONEY FOR THAT SCAM OF 5 DAY RETURN.

 

THIS WILL MOST LIKELY JUST BE PUT IN THE TRASH... BUT MAKE NO MISTAKE ... I WILL SHARE WITH EVERYONE I CAN TO NOT USE THIS BULL**bleep** SCAMMING THE TAX PAYERS.  YOU OWE ME AND OTHERS

I will be filing a complaint based on this TurboTax had 1 month to tell me they couldn’t help me with my tax needing a 1040nr and 1040 similar to this how I have to rush my taxes and it was based on an offer. I will be filing a complaint with ftc based on feb 2024 filing

Today is 3/27/2026, I spoke two different agents because after I paid the 278 bill for experts (what a joke) and logged back into my account all my 2025 data was gone.  I spent over an hour with the two dummies called experts.  I ask each of them for a supervisor or customer service and they refused it.  They kept asking is the right account even after the saw the recent 278 in my account.  Then they wanted me to reenter it all again (4.5 hours). One even told she would submit a ticket to tech for the issue.  I found out later they are not allowed to do that and no tickets was submitted - thanks Courtney H.  Finally got a hold of one real expert Harley - who transferred to a supervisor who NEVER answered the phone after he transferred.  I've been with turbo tax for over 20 years and never seen anything like this. I want my 278 back and I'm going to refill with H&R block.

This year was the worst experience I have ever had filing my taxes. After filing for 58 years that says a lot. I was told Turbo Tax was the way to go. Never again, they over charged me and added fees that I didn't agree to. Now they said there was nothing I could do about it. The BBB and Attorney Generals office will be getting copies.

I can't agree more with some of these comments on how awful this TurboTax Expert service is! Honestly, the incompetence I've been dealing with for the last going on three weeks is beyond frustrating! The system fails to match me with an expert. When I do speak with someone, they sound like an idiot. They've never been trained on any business practices or processes. No answer is the same from one expert to the other. You always get conflicting answers, and none of them are the correct answer and/or the correct information that you need. And management and senior leadership are nowhere to be found. The company has structured itself where you can't find a channel to escalate your issues. There's no one around to get them resolved, so you're just left frustrated, costing you more money! Did I say frustrated?
