Be glad you did not successfully e-file it since it is impossible to e-file a 2018 return in 2020.  That you even tried suggests that you messed up and used the current online software --- which is ONLY for 2019 not for any other year.  Do NOT file that return if you used the online software.  It will be all wrong.

Online preparation and e-filing for 2016, 2017 and 2018 is permanently closed.

To file a return for a prior tax year

If you need to prepare a return for 2016, 2017, or 2018 you can purchase and download desktop software to do it, then print, sign,  and mail the return(s)

https://turbotax.intuit.com/personal-taxes/past-years-products/

You may also want to explore purchasing the software from various retailers such as Amazon, Costco, Best Buy, Walmart, Sam’s, etc.

Remember to prepare your state return as well—if you live in a state that has a state income tax.

When you mail a tax return, you need to attach any documents showing tax withheld, such as your W-2’s or any 1099’s.  Use a mailing service that will track it, such as UPS or certified mail so you will know the IRS/state received the return.

Note:  The desktop software you need to prepare the prior year return must be installed/downloaded to a full PC or Mac.  It cannot be used on a mobile device.

If you are getting a refund, there is not a penalty for filing past the deadline.  If you owe taxes, the interest/penalties will be calculated by the IRS based on how much you owe and when they receive your return and payment. The IRS will bill you for this; it will not be calculated by TurboTax.

2018?  July 14 of this year 2020 or last year?  If you used the Online version this year it is only for 2019 returns not 2018.  So if it says Ready to Mail it is a good thing it wasn't efiled.  And you can not efile 2018 returns.  You have to print and mail prior year returns.

Online is only good for 2019 now.  If you tried to use the Online version for 2018 and entered 2018 info into the 2019 Online version you can try to clear and start over

Or you can leave this account and set up a new account to do 2019.  How to start another return in the Online version

Then do you still need to file 2018?  To do 2018 you have to buy the Desktop Download program here

You can not e-file a prior year tax return. The IRS says so. You have to print it, sign it and mail it to the IRS. TurboTax does not file a tax return by any means, for anyone, under any circumstances. There are no exceptions. It is up to you to print the 2018 tax return, sign it, and mail it to the IRS.
