Error: 10366 in Turbotax Business

When I am trying to start to fill a new Form 1065 (Multi-member LLC) an Error Code emerging and the program crashes.

 I have tried to use program in different computers, but result is same.

I ran program as Administrator, but result was same.  

ERROR MESSAGE:

TurboTax cannot load the installed tax forms. There may be a permission issue on the perwin.ini.file. We cannot read a value for key EngineOptions.CachePath.

C:\Users\-ERD-\AppData\Roaming\Intuit\TurboTax\TY20\business\perwin.ini

Error: 10366

I made a small search on internet and learnt people experienced same problem even 14 years ago in Turbotax. However, Customer Service Representative told me that she heard that problem first time.

Please try uninstalling the program and reinstalling to see if this fixes the issue. Please see the instructions below:

I could not fix the problem, and I have couple days to fill my tax form.

how can I switch my Turbotax Business Download version to online version? Because I am not able to use Download version. I installed program three different computers and having same problem. Most probably there is a system problem in the software.

I have this exact problem -- reinstall didn't help. Running on Windows 11. Very frustrating. Has anyone been able to get past this issue?

Thank you -- was on the phone with your support team; initial suggestions seemed generic. I even sent a "crash report" (as TT crashes on this 100% of the time) and in it I did include the case# that the agent provided to me. If you're able to check that in the backend crash report submissions, you should find one under 10366..

Other data points:

2020 Turbotax desktop installation across 2 other machines -- ALSO hitting this problem; it does appear you folks have a regression in the code that is causing TT to crash.. Error code 10366 is the same. For example, on the same hardware that I used TT 2020 on to file taxes, I could NOT install the same TT to look back into my 2020 taxes.. It is crashing with 10366. Please have someone high up in your technical escalation chain look at the crash reports coming in.. Maybe you turned too far into online-only world but we the desktop app users would still appreciate some attention. Thank you.

I see you had error 10366. I also tried uninstall-install, tried calling-no solution yet.

It was not able to be resolved on Windows; I had to install TT on a Mac and completed my taxes there.. Support gave up and authorized/issued a new license key for me to use on a MAC. If you have an option to use a Mac, that might be the fastest way out.

So this is clear for future users who might come across this thread, you are using a desktop TurboTax product other than TurboTax Business, is that correct?

In other words, you had an issue installing and running a desktop product, such as Basic, Deluxe, Premier, or Home & Business, correct? 

I just wanted this to be noted since the original post in this thread involved TurboTax Business and there is no MAC version of that product.

I didn't realize the difference in editions, but yes now that I checked; it is indeed "Home & Business 2021" running on my Mac. Basically the whole platform had to be changed away from Windows for the problem to be worked around. TT should look into fixing this 10yr old problem on the Windows side. I have a 100% repro on Windows and am happy to offer more logs/help etc in case its needed.

You might want to try sending a tax file (personal information redacted) to an agent assuming you can get a file to open in the program on Windows.

I understand completely, but it appears as if this is not a widespread issue (which does not exactly motivate developers to devote a bunch of resources to it).

Actually, if you do an internet search (Google) with the search terms "TurboTax error 10366" you basically just get this thread.
