Critical update issue

This afternoon, when I tried to apply the update (it says The available updates marked critical and may affect important functionality), it applied the updated. When it asked me to install the update and relaunch the application, I said yes. However, the TT H&B never restarted. So I manually tried to restart, and it poped the question again ("the available updates marked critical and may affact important functionality"). So I re-applied the updates, and it does not seems to work!

That response was not helpful for me. Still having the following problem: I am getting the message to update because of a critical update. I am able to down load 213 MB of 231 MB and then I get an error message. The download quits. Furthermore I am unable to open TT to continue with my entries. NOT HAPPY. At least I would like to be able to continue loading information until the problem mis fixed. I am using Mac OS 10.15.2.

I downloaded the updates (Using Win10 with the latest Win updte) and TT started to load them, but the both for Fed rtns and software failed.  As a result, TT will not allow me to e-file.  Help!

@Lv2Danc Please see this TurboTax FAQ: "There is an update available for your version of TurboTax" loop when e-filing (Windows)

Please see the additional suggestions to fix this below:

Use Windows 10 x 64. Then on the TurboTax shortcut icon on your computer desktop, right click and chose the option to 'Troubleshoot Compatibility', and chose to run the program as Administrator.

Sometimes even if you installed TurboTax software as an Administrator, you may have to set it again in the <"Properties"<<"Compatibility" tab as follows:

    • Close the TurboTax program
    • Right click on the TurboTax desktop icon
    • Click on Properties
    • Click on the Compatibility tab
    • Check the box Run this program as administrator
    • Click on Apply and then on OK
    • Start the TurboTax program
    • In the "Settings" box … check the box to "Run this program as an administrator"

Another option, if you're using Windows 10, try this

    1. Right-click on the taskbar and select Task manager.
    2. Look for Intuit update service in the process tab and end process.
    3. Look for MSIexec.exe in the Details tab and end process.
    4. Try installing Turbotax again.

If that doesn't work, please contact customer service to request a push. Start by clicking on Contact Us Answering the questions will help to ensure that your call is properly routed.

I tried a bunch of things including repairing .NET and downloading, installing the latest TurboTax updates by hand, repairing the TurboTax installation and nothing worked.  TurboTax would not even start without automatically going to the installing updates screen.

What did work for me was uninstalling TurboTax and reinstalling it.  So far, no problems after doing that.
