Please see the additional suggestions to fix this below:
Use Windows 10 x 64. Then on the TurboTax shortcut icon on your computer desktop, right click and chose the option to 'Troubleshoot Compatibility', and chose to run the program as Administrator.
Sometimes even if you installed TurboTax software as an Administrator, you may have to set it again in the <"Properties"<<"Compatibility" tab as follows:
- Close the TurboTax program
- Right click on the TurboTax desktop icon
- Click on Properties
- Click on the Compatibility tab
- Check the box Run this program as administrator
- Click on Apply and then on OK
- Start the TurboTax program
- In the "Settings" box … check the box to "Run this program as an administrator"
Another option, if you're using Windows 10, try this
- Right-click on the taskbar and select Task manager.
- Look for Intuit update service in the process tab and end process.
- Look for MSIexec.exe in the Details tab and end process.
- Try installing Turbotax again.
