I am extremely frustrated to the point that I may try another tax program next year. I purchase the Deluxe CD every year. I have used TurboTax for years, but for the past three years and including this year 2022, one file is corrupted every single year. I do the taxes for my best friend who is blind on TurboTax. For three years now, every time I save her file and try to reopen it, I get a tax file corrupted message. I did her taxes for 2022, and luckily I had saved the pdf so I can print documents. I was able to file her federal return as well and saved the file, but the file like all the others was corrupted immediately upon saving it. Since I have had this problem for three years in a row for her tax file, I tried reopening her tax file and low and behold, it would not open. The file was corrupted again. TurboTax: this should not happen and you should have a solution for this! Can you please explain why this continues to happen with her particular return every single year. What could be causing this as I am tired of having to start a new return every year for her instead of having all of her data transferred in each year which makes things so much easier? I would appreciate a solution and an understanding as to why this continues to happen?????

contact support. you may have to send them the corrupted file so they can figure out what's going on. I also have used Windows desktop for decades to prepare returns for me and my family members. I have never had a corrupted file. Also, I don't recall seeing other complaints about corrupted files year after year.

My 2022 tax file was also corrupted upon saving last year.
Did you have success with sending yours to cusotmer service to be resuscitated?
Did you try opening your tax return in the 2022 program and saving it again? See if you have any other 2022 .tax2022 files on your computer. You might have one that starts with a ~ sign. That is saved if your file gets lost or corrupted.
This can also happen if you save your tax file directly to a flash drive, or USB-connected external drive.
Only save a file directly to your main computer's hard drive/SSD.....and Copy-Paste form there to a backup location for backup. only work on files located on you maid system's Hard drive (or SSD)
I am so very DISAPPOINTED in TurboTax. Since 2014 I have been using this product to prepare my returns with the program on my family's computer and my return on an external hard drive. I don't believe there was any warning/caution last year against that practice.
My loyalty to the product was definitely based upon being able to bring up all the prior year's base data into the new year.
I did try: copying the 2022 file back on to the hard drive and opening it up in the 2022 TurboTax - no joy there.
One bad side effect of trying to open the file that TurboTax declared corrupt was: trying (several times) to start fresh and select—starting a completely new return—caused the program to close itself. I've had to uninstall then reinstall the product.
Maybe now I'll try to pull up 21 into 22 and see if it can be saved, then carried to 23 with the base data intact.
Sigh.
