Are you confusing being asked by the tax software to enter a phone number with the advice to not post your phone number here in the public user forum?
This is a public web site that can be seen by anyone—including scammers and would-be identity thieves who would love to contact you and pretend to be from TurboTax so we do not want you to post your personal contact information here.
Thanks for the reply, no, I wasn't confused by that statement, I just found it ironic to see that advice when posting this...
My phone number is not required for the taxes to be completed, and I just simply have no intention to give it out to a company ever again (or any other unneeded personal information for that matter) now that various companies mismanagement (and shoddy database security) of phone numbers is the reason nobody ever answers their phone anymore for fear of it being yet another scam number...
I already turned the ringer on my phone off, and now that the text scam attempts are starting to skyrocket, I may have to mute my phone entirely
I'm trying to get passed this step too. Let me efile or give us refunds.
