You as an employee do not have an EIN. Your taxpayer ID would be your SSN.
EIN Is your employer's tax ID number, not yours. Also, it is not a number from your employer, it is a number assigned by the government. People see numbers like 123-45-6789. Employers see numbers like 12-3456789. They are always nine digits.
actually we do? all of my w2’s had a spot that was EIN (employer identification number). so you are in straight up wrong. Like it might belong to the employer not employee my apologies. but i still needed the number and the one provided on my W2 didn’t have enough numbers to complete the box the way turbo tax wanted. and i can’t just make up numbers. actually maybe provide help instead of just telling me i’m wrong. it also didn’t ask or want my social security number it wanted the EIN. i also recommend telling your supervisor that setting up customer service that you can call that wont cost me money would be an amazing idea because your A.I. is terrible like everybody else’s automated phone system. because of you, the technical problem i came across, and not being able to get help from someone unless i paid money, i will never use turbo tax again and recommend to everyone i know not to use it.
If the EIN in box b (top right). Isn't working then you need to ask your employer the Post Office for a correct EIN number. You're not confusing it with the Control number in box d or the employee number (your ssn) in box a?
The EIN employer number should be 9 digits like xx-xxxxxxx.

All of us, however, are trying to guess, based on the limited information you provide, what might be helpful to you.

Your tax ID is the same as your social security number if you have one. Otherwise your TID (taxpayer identification number) is one assigned to you that does not participate in the social security system.
If you are still frustrated, the best thing may be to find a friend or resource who can help you sort it out while physically looking at your documents. This is a public community forum and you should not post your personal information here.
Good luck and know that my wife is probably the closest thing I have to a supervisor and she wants me to stop typing and get over to the other house to watch the grandkids with her :-).
