There will not be an issue if the address on your federal tax return is different then the address on your W-2. It is your tax return address that needs to be correct if the IRS ever needs to contact you for any reason.
I have this same question. I'm filling out the FAFSA and it asks for the address on my 1040 Tax Return, however, I moved in September and now my current address is different than the address I used to complete the tax return. I'm not sure how this will affect things.
and it asks for the address on my 1040 Tax Return,
If being asked "specifically and explicitly" for the "address on your 2019 tax return", then that's what you enter.
It to be sent to my new one [PII removed]
I no longer live at the address you have on file
Please file new address [PII removed]
As this is a public forum, we cannot make updates to your personal account here.
If you have already filed your return, you cannot do anything with TurboTax to update your address.
You can go to the following link and update your information with the IRS directly.
If you still need to file your return, you can update your address by logging back into TurboTax.
So if your address on your taxes are different than the one you need them to be sent to where would they be sent to
They would be sent to the address on your return.
To use my new address 4644 NW 86 LN Coral Springs florida 33067
You should use your current address so that you can receive responses or updates to your filing.
Don't worry if your mailing address on your W-2 form is wrong or has since changed. This won't affect your taxes. Just make sure you've entered your current mailing address in the Personal Info section of TurboTax, which you'll find under Intuit Account on the lower left side of the screen (you may have to go to Tax Home first to get there).
If you expect to get another W-2 from the same employer next year, ask their payroll department to update your address so next year's W-2 doesn't get lost in the mail.
On the other hand, if your name, Social Security number, or any dollar amount(s) on your W-2 are wrong, ask your employer for a corrected W-2 (also known as Form W-2c: Corrected Wage and Tax Statement).
