Was the first return rejected?  Or do you need to change an Accepted return?

I need to change an accepted fed return.

Then you need to mail in an Amended return.

How to refile if something went wrong the first time?

If you didn't get an email, search on the reject message or code for instructions on how to fix the rejected issue. Please see below for instructions on how to fix a rejected tax return:

You can also view information the IRS has listed on their website for assistance in correcting certain rejects like age, name or social security numbers.
