If you purchased the Deluxe online edition and then upgraded to the Premier online edition in the same account then you would only have been charged the difference in price between Deluxe and Premier which is $20.  Check your credit card billing website for the purchases.  If you added a state tax return then that is an additional $44.99.

 

Deluxe online - $59.99

Premier online - $79.99

Did you buy the Desktop CD/download program?

Or pay for the Online versions?  Online should have only charged you for the difference.

I HAVE THE SAME SITUATION ---ONLY PURCHASED. DELUX AT COSTCO IN 2020 THEN HAD TO DOWNLOAD IT ON MY MAC.  I HAD TO UPGRADE TO PREMIER FOR SCHEDULE D, BUT WAS ASKED TO PAY THE FULL $90 PRICE ON PREMIER NOT THE $20 DIFFERENCE

You don't have to upgrade the Deluxe Desktop program.  All the Desktop programs have the same forms. You just get more help and guidance in the higher versions. 

 

Sounds like you must be in the Online version by mistake instead of the Desktop program installed on your computer?

 

When you filled out your return did you go online and log in?  And see a black column on the left side with the menu items, Federal, State, File etc.

That is Online.

 

The Windows Desktop program is blue across the top and the menu items like Federal, State, Review, File go across the top.

 

Sorry you can't apply the Desktop CD/Download program purchase to the Online version.  They are separate prices and work different.  You have to pay for online and try to get a refund for the Desktop program.  Or switch to your program.

 

To Continue in your Desktop program......

You need to install the program on your computer and move your online return to the Desktop program. You can move your Online file to the Desktop program and continue without paying for Online or needing to reenter your info.

After you get the program installed the first thing to do before you open your tax return .tax file is to update the program and install any state programs you had. Then open your file. So you first might need to start a fake return to be able to download the state program (go to FILE - NEW).
