Do you have a TurboTax Online account?

We'll help you get started or pick up where you left off.

I apparently have two accounts under the same email address, one for 2019 and one for 2020. I need to access my 2019 return.

I assume you are referring to the notification email addresses for the accounts, since it's not possible to have 2 accounts that have the same log-in User ID.    If you have 2 accounts, you can have the same email address only for notification purposes, but each account log-in has to have a unique User ID.    Here's how to find and gain access to one's multiple accounts:

A User ID may be an email address, but it doesn't have to be.  It might be only part of an email address, or it can be anything at all.

To get a list of your User IDs, reset password, and recover account access, etc., you can use the tool at the link below.  When using the Account Recovery tool, try using your phone number first if you can still access it.   After that, if necessary, then run the tool on your email address(es) you can access.

NOTE: Before running the account recovery tool below, log out of all Intuit accounts including this user forum, or you might end up in a loop.  Then clear your browser Internet cache, close your browser, then reopen it, and go to the link below.  You may wish to copy this link so you can paste it into the new browser session.

If still no luck after running that on your phone number and email address(es) that you can access,  here's another method:

Go back to the tool again, but this time leave the data field blank, scroll down a bit, then choose the small blue link that says "Try something else", and it will look you up by SSN and other parameters.

If your 2019 returns were prepared in Online TurboTax, log into your account and at the Tax Home scroll down and expand the section "Your Tax  Returns & Documents".  Choose tax year 2019, and then click "Download/print the PDF", or if you just need the 2019 AGI, choose the link "View adjusted gross income (AGI)."  If you can't find your 2019 return there, then you likely have multiple accounts and signed into the wrong one. (NOTE:  Any return prepared in desktop software--CD/download--will not be in a online account.)    Many people end up with multiple accounts without realizing it.   Here's how to troubleshoot for multiple accounts (User IDs) :

You can have up to 5 accounts that use the same email address for notification purposes.  A User ID may be an email address, but it doesn't have to be.  It might be only part of an email address, or it can be anything at all.

It is flat wrong to say you cannot have two TurboTax accounts. I am staring at the recovery tool and it shows two accounts with the exact same e-mail address and is asking me which one I want to sign into. This is very confusing and there is no way to distinguish the two, or why Turbo Tax even created a second identical account. But only ONE is associated with my 2021 tax return while the other one has 2020 and previous years.

I have 30+ test accounts all using the same email address for alerts & the same password HOWEVER they all have a different user ID.

@sonofsmog   Who or where did it say you can not have two Turbo Tax accounts?

Its common to end up with multiple accounts.  First LOG OUT of whatever TurboTax account you're logged into right now. Then use this TurboTax account recovery website to get a list of user ID's for an email address.  You can use the same email address for 5 accounts. Run the tool against any email addresses you may have used

User1 claimed: "...you can have the same email address only for notification purposes, but each account log-in has to have a unique User ID." This is incorrect. I have TWO Intuit accounts with IDENTICAL user ID's (which are the e-mail address) and TWO e-mail addresses which are ALSO IDENTICAL. In fact there is no way to log into the correct account which Turbo Tax created last year when I attempted to login to my previous (correct) account without using the the recovery process. When use the recovery process it presents TWO IDENTICAL user ID's and it is up to me to GUESS which one actually has last years tax return associated with it.

There is NOTHING in the Inuit Account Sign In & Security page the distinguishes these TWO accounts.
