How to get my rejected taxes filed? it kept saying that the AGI didn't match which is not the case

If the IRS is rejecting your 2021 e-filed tax return for the 2020 AGI then there is a possibility that the IRS does not have your 2020 AGI in their database.

Enter a 0 (zero) for the 2020 AGI and e-file the 2021 tax return again.

ENTER 0 FOR AGI. The IRS took a long time last year to process 2020 returns so the AGI didn't get entered in time.  Especially if you mailed it.  That works for most people. See,

Be sure to attach copies of your W2s and any 1099s that have withholding on them.  You have to mail federal and state in separate envelopes because they go to different places.  Get a tracking number from the post office when you mail them for proof of filing.

If you filed after November 30, 2021 your AGI will be 0 because IRS records that data effective Nov 30 and if it shows no return filed your AGI is 0. I just talked to William Hall at the IRS and he informed me about this.  I tried the AGI directly from my posted transcript and got a mismatch rejection.  I had filed after the November 30 2021 deadline because I had mailed my return.  I didn't get it filed until May of 2022 because of the backlog at the IRS. Hope this helps! I am trying it out and if I still have a problem e-fling I will add to this post!

You received an email that we cannot see that tells you why your tax return was rejected.  

Some rejected returns can be fixed and re-filed.  Some have “un-fixable” reasons for the rejection and have to be mailed instead. What is the rejection code or rejection message? 

 If it was rejected for AGI—-be aware that many 2020 returns took so long for the IRS to process that your 2020 AGI might not be in the IRS system.   Try using zero instead.

If filing with zero is rejected then file again but select the option that you did not file last year.  The IRS does not see that question and it will allow you to e-file with no AGI question.

If that does not work and you still cannot e-file, then print, sign, and mail your tax return.

Enter 0 for your AGI. if your tax Return for 2020 was recorded after Nov 30 2021,which may have been because of the being delayed because of the IRS backlog, it will not show that a return was filed. Therefore say that your AGI is 0 or that you did not file in 2020. I just got my taxes filed by doing this. yahoo!
