Turbo Tax Deluxe calculated my taxable income as $62,709 which for 2020 means a tax due of $7,132. Turbo Tax calculated a tax due of $3,136. How do I resolve this problem??
It depends on what kind of income you have, if you have capital gains or qualified dividends the tax is not taken from the tax table but is calculated separately from schedule D. The tax will be calculated on the Qualified Dividends and Capital Gain Tax Worksheet. It does not get filed with your return. In the online version you need to save your return as a pdf file and include all worksheets to see it.
For the Desktop version you can switch to Forms Mode and open the worksheet to see it. Click Forms in the upper right (upper left for Mac) and look through the list and open the Qualified Dividends and Capital Gain Tax Worksheet.
You can probably tell because the tax on 1040 will be less than the Tax Table

Depends on which of 7 methods is used to calculate the tax for the types of income that was entered.
In most cases it is because you entered qualified dividends or interest that is taxed at capital gains rate which can be a zero tax on that income so the total tax will be lower.
Greetings. Maryland Pension Exclusion shows 0, but I have a pension exclusion to enter. It will not let me revisit it. I am able to revisit other Maryland state tax items. Will appreciate your help.
I live in Springboro, OH and the Ohio State School taxing district for Springboro is 8302, but Turbo Tax will not accept it as being valid. I attached screen shots of the TurboTax error message and two different Ohio State screens showing the number I provided is correct. I am not able to complete filing until TurboTax quits flagging as an error.
@ Hal_Al When you are next in the forum, do you have any suggestion for user JTROBERTS in regard to the Ohio school district code in his images above and why TurboTax is not accepting it. Thanks!

By the way @ JTROBERTS right after I requested the help from Hal_Al, I just noticed that in your first image above (the form from TurboTax), the County field asks for "first 4 letters", and I see you have the full name of the county entered. I wonder if that would have anything to do with it not recognizing the code. Whether that's significant, I don't know. But maybe that is causing some sort of "mismatch." You may wish to try shortening it to the first 4 letters to see if that makes any difference in your problem.
the digital version of premier was checked to generate a Capital loss work sheet but didnt. i'm tired of software that doesnt work,
my return was checked markrf to generate a capital loss wotksheet but didn't. $ 90 for a piece of software that doesn't work
I am the one with the problem - not a solution for the first one!!! I have used Turbo Tax for years, have completed my own personal tax, and am now working on my son's taxes - I have also done his for years with TurboTax. I have entered over $27,000 in contributions but he is still given the standard deduction even though most of his income does not show anywhere - and he owes a few thousand in taxes already! The problem seems to relate to the new form 1099-NEC and carrying forward Schedule C - I have used Premier for years including for my own Schedule C so it is quite adequate and I don't need to upgrade to Home & Business so that is not a solution. This software simply DOES NOT WORK THIS YEAR!!!

I'm a fellow user and forum helper, and don't work for TurboTax.
I'm not completely sure what "digital version" of Premier means; i.e., whether that means the desktop software (CD/download) that one installs on a computer or the Online TurboTax (web version) since both are digital. So I'll address both circumstances, just in case.
Can you please be more specific about "where" you placed a checkmark? You mentioned you were wanting a "capital loss worksheet." In relation to Schedule D, TurboTax should automatically generate a Capital Loss Carryover Worksheet and/or a Capital Loss Carryforward Worksheet when needed.
If you're using desktop TurboTax, to see if either of those worksheets were generated, you can go into Forms Mode and in the left column list of forms, they will likely be abbreviated like this: "Cap Ls Carryfwd" and/or "Cap Ls Carryovr" depending on which one (or both) your return needed.
On the other hand, if you're using Online TurboTax (web version), have you already paid and efiled? Or are you still in the preparation and review stage and want to see the worksheets prior to efiling?
If you've already filed, the PDF obtained at the Tax Home will likely just be the basic return and likely won't have any worksheets, but we can tell you how to get a PDF with all the forms and worksheets that are in your return.

You are correct that desktop Premier (CD/download) can handle the same forms as Home and Business, so Premier should be able to handle the Schedule C with no need for an upgrade. Have you talked to TurboTax Support? It might be difficult to sort out your issue in this cluttered catch-all thread with multiple users with various issues. And the chances are less of it being seen buried in a long thread like this. Usually, when first posting to the forum, it's best to start one's own new thread with the issue identified in the question title, where it will show up to more people who have knowledge about a specific topic. Someone might assist in this thread, but there's no guarantee that the right person who can help you will see it.
If you want to start your own new thread, you can do so at the page below. When there, click the blue "Ask a question" button. The title line is space-limited, but there is a box underneath it with plenty of room to add details. Do not post any personal info in this public Internet forum.

I am using Maryland edition of Turbotax. The Maryland edition is reporting that I owed the state of Maryland over $2,980 in taxes as well as interest for underpayment. I checked and the software is not transfering the $3752 that was withheld from my federal annuity and a federal lump sum payment I received. This prbblem may result from the Turboxtax Federal edition does not allow me to enter the box that appear on my 1099R for boxes 12-13.

NopeUpTwo:
I'm not a tax person, so I'm asking someone familiar with retirement reporting if they can help you during the day with that. Hopefully, they can make a suggestion.
In the meantime, here's something you need to clarify:
What kind of 1099-R do you have? You mentioned a "Federal annuity" and a "Federal lump sum payment." Is that a civil service annuity? You only said "1099-R". Is that a CSA-1099-R or a regular Form 1099-R? I suspect it may be the former.
You mentioned Boxes 12 and 13 of your 1099-R.
On a regular Form 1099-R, Box 12 is the FATCA filing requirement, and Box 13 "Date of payment" (certain death benefits).
On a CSA-1099-R, however, Box 12 is "State Tax Withheld", and Box 13 is State ID.
So that, plus your term "Federal annuity" makes me think you may be referring to a CSA-1099-R..

I'm not sure what you mean by "does not allow me to enter Box 12 and 13". Are you experiencing mismatched/misnumbered boxes on a screen called "Let's Verify This Entry?" Some users had a known issue with such a screen earlier this year that I think was supposed to have been fixed. They were helped by @ SteamTrain who I'll also ask to take a look here.
You said you are using "Maryland Edition." Does that mean you are you using the desktop software (CD/download)? If so, is your desktop program up to date? Have you run the "check for updates"?
@ dmertz Are you please able to assist this user when you are next in the forum in regards to why his state withholding from a Federal annuity and Federal lump sum payment didn't transfer from the Federal side to the state side? And his problem with entering Box 12 and 13 of his 1099-R, which I suspect is actually CSA-1099-R. Thanks!
I reworded some of my answer above, since I suspect you may be referring to a CSA-1099-R. So I revised it to account for that possibility as well. Sorry for any confusion. You may have been emailed the original answer, however, so hopefully, that didn't confuse things too much. You can return to the forum to see the full revised answer. And hopefully, the helpers I asked to assist you can help you further later today.
