There are no second extensions.
The extension request for tax year 2022 had to be made on or before April 18, 2023 to file a tax return without a failure to file penalty at any time on or before October 16, 2023.

If you are referring to the automatic overseas extension of 2 months, if you did not file an electronic request for an extension before April 18, the way you claim your 2 month overseas extension is by filing your return before June 15 by mail and writing the extension request on the top of the first page.
If you want an overseas extension to October 15, it is not too late to request it (because you automatically have until June 15 to request the extension), but you can't apply electronically, you have to file form 4868 by mail.

If you have an extension to October 15 and you want a longer extension, that doesn't exist.
I prepare tax returns for my daughter and son-in-law.
Our investments are with Raymond James.
In 2021 our account was transferred from Wells Fargo to Raymond James.
My daughter inherited an IRA from her deceased father. When the account transferred to Raymond James, it was miscategorized. Her required withdrawals were categorized as "early withdrawals." I discovered this when I prepared the 2022 Tax Return.
I contacted our Raymond James Advisor. He advised us to file for an extension while RJ made the correction.
To this date, RJ has not made the correction. Our Advisor assured us that it would be done so we could file by the extension date.
It is now a week past the expiration date of the extension. It still has not been corrected. Our Advisor told us to file for a second extension.
I called up the Return to ask for a second extension, but it said there are no second extensions.
What do I do now?
That is correct. There are no second extensions. The filing deadline for people with 2022 extensions was October 16, 2023 except for certain residents of CA who have a November deadline. So.....the return will just be late when you file it. You have three years from your extension deadline to file a return and receive a refund. If you do not owe or are getting a refund, there is no penalty for missing the deadline.
@dsuemw63 Oh....and we cannot tell from your post whether you are using online TurboTax or the CD/download. But if you were using online for that 2022 return, you only have until October 31 to finish preparing it, or online will shut down and you will need to switch to the download on a full PC or Mac. If you do not expect to be able to finish by 10-31, you should go ahead and switch it to the download now so you do not lose everything else when the system transitions to 2023 tax returns---or you will have a wait of at least a month before you can do anything with it. Also....when you do have the return ready, it will have to be filed by mail.
