It depends on how you might be being taxed, due to the State in which you reside. Although unemployment assistance is a Federal issue, the funds actually come from the State in which you reside. So, you might eligible to receive a percentage of forgiveness. Again, depending on your State.
I really need to speak to someone that can help me correct the mistakes so I can refile. [phone number removed].
I added my unemployment to my federal. I'm now on the state tax part. Do I do a state tax for Ky and then a separate for Wv
No, when it comes to unemployment, they already have the records so they will reconcile on their end. Provided they do not accidentally issue an additional refund, you do not have to do anything. If you should receive or be taxed more than owed/due, then they will work it out in next years' return. Given that it is a State issue concern for you, you can go right to your State DOR and rectify it with them. I hope this helps.
I think I understand. I just didn't know why for the first time ever I have to pay a state tax. I'm assuming it's because otherwise unemployment & where I received unemployment from a different state I wasn't sure what to do. If I had to file a tax return through that state as well.
You may need to delete both state returns. You should have done the WV return first. Let it calculate the tax liability. Then do your state return. KY will give you a credit for the WV tax liability- the lower of the tax rates.
Your resident state taxes all income but gives a credit for income taxed by another state. Please carefully follow these directions.
You will need to prepare the states in a special order. You may need to delete both states and begin again.
It isn't possible for the program to create a credit before it knows the liability. Your returns may be wrong if you do not prepare the states in this order.

You guys are the absolute worst to try and get ahold of, besides having to spend at least 3 minutes at a minimum just talking to a stupid computer then when you finally do get to the point where they call a representative there's over an hour wait time, I don't know how to get ahold of the "live chat" that I was told I have And this year of all the years just seemed worse in my eyes as far as the app goes I won't be doing my taxes with TurboTax next year this whole process has been absolutely ridiculous this year and then when I actually need help I can't get it I'll wait for the call back I'll finish my stuff this year but I won't be coming back next year and that wasn't a hard choice after going through all this crap today
Why when I click fix my return does the site not take me to the proper place so I can see what's wrong?
Not all rejections will have explicit guides to fixing the information. If you aren't guided to your solution, search for the item causing your rejection and go to that section (you might also be able to find your rejection in the below list of the most “popular” IRS rejects). Make the change and select File in the left-hand menu. Follow the onscreen instructions to either e-file your return or file by mail.
Please see the TurboTax FAQ below which has Most "popular" IRS rejections that will help you find the error, if the fix it button is not taking you to an area to fix:
I am trying to file my Taxes. I got all info in trying to sign. And they keep sending me a code . Then when I put it in its expired?
Try deleting your browser's cookies. Please see this Turbo Tax FAQ regarding How to delete cookies! If that doesn't work try using a different browser all together.
Make sure to leave the window open that asks you for the code. If you close this window and go back after you receive the code, the code will no longer be valid. If you need your browser to get your e-mail, open a new separate window, don't close. Also, make sure you are using the most recent code and not using a prior one. Every time that you ask for a code it cancels out all the previous ones that were sent and only takes the most recent. Please wait a few minutes after each code request to receive your email. It is not generated instantly.
You can also request your code via text message. To receive your codes through text please complete the following:
If you are still unable to get the code to work through text, choose I forgot my user ID or password and then choose I don't know my email address or user ID. You’ll be asked to provide some information about yourself, and then you’ll be asked a few questions verify your identity. If that method fails, you’ll get a phone number to contact customer support.
i need my ip number from last year taxes
IDENTITY PIN
Per the IRS:
Taxpayers who previously have been issued an Identity Protection PIN but lost it, must use the Get an IP PIN tool to retrieve their numbers. Taxpayers who have an IP PIN need to provide it when they file their return.
Where do I find my AGI?
https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/agi/help/how-do-i-find-last-year-s-agi/01/25947
Your 2019 tax return shows your 2019 Adjusted Gross Income (AGI) If you filed a joint return then the AGI is the same for each of you.
Form 1040 line 8b
If you are using the same TT account that you used last year, you should also be able to find this number in your Tax Home for 2019
If entering the amount from your 2019 tax return does not work, then try entering “0” instead. If that does not work and you still cannot e-file, then print, sign, and mail your tax return.
You can get a free transcript of your past return from the IRS:
https://www.irs.gov/individuals/get-transcript
Note: If you filed late or amended your return, your correct 2019 AGI may not be in the system.
