The problem is Apple, not Intuit. Apple deprecates old hardware, which would force Intuit to either use the old software developers kit (SDK) that supports old hardware but not the newest models, or use the current SDK that removes support for older models (or, I suppose, develop two completely different versions with different SDKs, but that would mean making 4 separate versions for Windows, online, old Mac and new Mac). I don't think it would be cost effective.
The issue is generally one is security not how well a computer functions.
Thanks for the explanation. Now what do I do with the Turbo license I bought at Costco? Unfortunately, I opened the pulltab to get teh license code and download the latest version and I got the message to upgrade to Mac os13. I have now researched that my mac is not upgradable to OS13.
Can I get a refund? Or am I stuck and wasted $80?
I have used Turbotax for as long as I can remember doing my taxes - probably 20 years. I'm not buying a new computer to do taxes. I will have to investigate other products that will work on my computer.

You should be able to get a product refund. First, see if Costco will refund you, but they may not be able to. If they don't, TurboTax will refund it under the 60-day moneyback guarantee no matter where you purchased, as long as it was an authorized retailer like Costco. If Costco won't do it, you can use the online refund request at the link below to make your request to TurboTax:
If you end up using that form, you can also go back to the same page to track the status of the product refund. Down near the bottom of that form interface is a tiny blue link to "Track refund requests."
If you purchased your software from Costco, you would have to request a refund from them.
Same here. I have used TurboTax for more than a decade, but I use a pre-2019 iMac that is incompatible with the current Mac OS, and TurboTax 2024 is not compatible with the OS I am using (Monterey). Does TurboTax really not have an alternative for people like us? I will not buy a new computer just so I can use TurboTax.
