The IRS has discontinued the e-filing PIN option. To verify your identity for e-filing, you’ll need to use last years AGI. For more information please click the link below.

How can I obtain or reset my 5 digit pin
It depends upon which PIN you are referring to.
The IRS discontinued the use of the e-filing PIN. You will need to use your 2018 Adjusted Gross Income (AGI) instead. See the following links for more information.
If you have an 6 digit PIN from the IRS, this is used to verify your identity if you have been a victim identity theft in the past.
If you need to obtain your 6-digit PIN from the IRS, you will need to contact them.
then why has my eFile been rejected MANY times as I need my PIN. When I erase PIN on TurboTax you do not let me complete to try to refile!
If you don't have your self-select PIN, not the same as the e-File PIN, because you didn't write it and keep it in a safe place, the PIN field should be empty and the AGI from last year is used.
If the AGI doesn't match, you have to file on paper via US Mail.
If you are REJECTED, you can always try again and again and again, as many posters here will attest to.
