Glad it is working for you now.
What worked for me was to e-file only my federal taxes first, and then back up in the software and e-file my state taxes. Trying to e-file both at the same time caused the "failed validation" error. My state happens to be California. I am using the desktop software for 2021, with Windows 11.
I did try the recommendations to uninstall and reinstall Turbotax, and to re-boot, but that did not work.
Both Fed and CA went through this time! The server issue must have been fixed. Thanks everyone for commenting!
I am having the same issue too. I was simply getting a FAILED_VALIDATION error. I tried to install the latest update (FPS 4.4.9) after which it was successful. Hence the recommendation would be to update to the latest. However YMMV.
Thanks
Please try the steps in this TurboTax FAQ for validation issues.
Troubleshooting problems with Windows Installer and the Microsoft .NET Framework.
Same issue here! I have restarted, done a manual update and tried to navigate through the terrible customer support and still cannot submit my taxes. I bought TurboTax so that I could get this done in one fell swoop! Never again, what a bunch of junk software.
What is the error or issue that is not allowing you to file your return? @resaandchris
This did not work. Other suggestions?
On Mac shut down then restart.Open Turbotax. Hopefully update will then download. Good luck.
On Windows 11 machine, I tried all of the troubleshooting suggestions for FAILED_VALIDATION and nothing worked. I decided to switch back to my Windows 10 machine, and had no problem with eFile.
For a long as people have been reporting these failed validation issues, it seems that TurboTax could have provided better troubleshooting advice and come out with an update. I have been using TurboTax since 2005 and have been a Tax Advantage subscriber for several years now. I may be looking for an alternative next tax season.
I uninstalled, re-installed Turbo Tax. I restarted and opened Turbo Tax. It ran all the updates. Vola! I could file my taxes with no prolem.
I tried update my information, re-saved addresses and phone. None of these worked.
I got dropped by TT for adding a thumbs up to your feedback
This company is SOOO big, everything is compartimentized and fragmented, the CS agents do not know what is going on.
We are deliberately frustrated so much we decide to do the search work ourselves. There is no clear path to getting a person who can answer.
I suspect this is TT way of avoiding responsibility for not wanting to process old returns while they are develop new code for next year.
@pidwermi What is your situation? This is the only post from you and it isn't clear what your problem is. Please explain more. We can probably help.
My post was in April of 2021. At that time I could not e-file my taxes. I figured out a solution and posted that. Since then there have been many posts added. Thank you for your offer of help.
INEXCUSABLE BUG that persists Year after Year from this string of comments.
TurboTax Solution - NOT THEIR PROBLEM - They've already gotten our money and the fees for eFile. The Jokes on US. Pathetic s/w, and non-existent customer support.
People, Vote with your wallets and dump this garbage datamining POS.
Yours truly,
