E-File Rejected, Then Accepted, but Federal Payment Didn't Go Through

Hi. The first time I e-filed my Federal and State, both returns were rejected because of the Federal AGI, but my credit card was charged for the tax owed. I found the info on the AGI issues and re-submitted the e-files and both Federal and State were accepted. I had read that if your credit card was already charged to choose "mail a check" so as not to get charged twice. Now 5 days later, my Federal payment is gone from my credit card. Obviously what I read to do was not correct then. Once e-files are accepted, they can't be reversed because of  a change in payment method, correct? My taxes are filed, just the payment needs to be taken care of, correct?  I wasn't expecting the credit card charge for my Federal taxed to disappear off of my credit card, but is it okay then to mail the check with the voucher without an attached return? Any info would be very much appreciated. Thanks.

Turbo Tax will not know if a payment was processed to the IRS.  Please contact the IRS to inquire.
