Does "Divorced" only apply if your divorce was finalized during 2022?

Where are you seeing something about entering that you are divorced? Divorced is not a filing status. You are either Single, Married filing jointly , Married filing separately, Head of Household, or Qualifying Surviving Spouse

They ask that at the beginning so then it might ask you more questions to fill out your return. But if you are Divorced you file as Single or Head of Household if you have a child. The general questions at the beginning don't affect your return.
