Hello,
If the built in software update function doesn't work when you choose "Check for Updates" method, then you might want to give manual update a try. For Windows:
Best regards!
Are you really using the "Online" software, or perhaps the "Desktop/Download" software?
SO, if the manual update doesn't work...see the following:
_____________
For those using Desktop/Download software, and if you have a GA tax return to file....there is a current "issue" with e-filing GA. IF you are attempting to e-file both Federal and GA together, you should be able to change yoru e-filing to select Federal filing only, and that Federal file should go thru by itself. Buit then you will still have to wait for TTX to "maybe" fix the GA e-filing problem sometime in the next few weeks.
___________
Here's a more recent discussion on that issue...might be better to follow that even though there is no fix yet:
Re: Turbo Tax Deluxe 2022 - Failed Validation for state E-file (intuit.com)
________
In The Meantime:
As far as I can tell...The problem seemed to start up after the 29 June Software update.
Software updates occur on either Wed or Thursday evenings.
Thus, if you truly are using the "Desktop" software...Try a software update on each Friday morning for the next 2 or 3 weeks, and try again.
________
Yeah...you are not the only one, but the issue seems to be limited to GA, so far.
If you are getting a GA refund, shouldn't be a problem to wait a couple weeks to see if TTX gets a fix enacted.
BUT
If you owe GA, it's up to you if you want to wait longer, or just change to print and file by mail. Penalties and interest may accrue in that situation....how much, depends on how much you actually owe.
Confirming that I have the same problem with GA State return. Federal & my other states filed OK. Pain in the backside waiting for TTax to fix their self created software problem
Thank you for your response. It was very helpful. Unfortunately, the error wasn't fixed in this last round of updates. How long does it usually take to get errors fixed?
Agree!
How long depends on what is causing the problem.....
...but 2 weeks is really an absolute minimum for fairly simple problems. 1 week to figure out what's wrong, and another to do the fix.
But...if more major software issues are encountered...3-4 weeks.
Received notice from the TurboTax Moderators that the update on Friday 07/14/2023 should have fixed this issue.
Check your Installed Updates - Click on Online at the top of the desktop program screen. Click on View Installed Updates. In the update list check to see if the 07/14/2023 update was installed. If not installed then click on Check for Updates in the Online menu
If it was installed and you are still having the problem of not being able to e-file the Georgia state tax return due to the Failed Validation error then you need to send a diagnostic file to TurboTax for investigation.
Click on Online and then click on Send Tax File to Agent
When the Tax File is created and sent you will get a diagnostic file number.
Post the file number on this thread to the TurboTax Moderator @ErickaY
I am still getting the failed validation error even with the updates.
moderator @ErickaY I sent a tax file. Token # is 1148100
Checked for updates and system says software up to date - still getting the validation failed error with GA. Sent tax file to agent. Token number is 1148209. Also sent message to moderator EricaY
I just applied the most recent software updates - Sun 23 July - and managed to e-file my GA return. Thanks for the information sharing to all - and best luck with finishing your GA returns. John
I was able to transmit my GA return. Thank you everyone for all your help.
I have installed all updates.
I have installed the manual update file (w_perrelsuperpatchIS_ttax_2022_330.0103.exe).
I have reset cache on Firefox and Chrome.
I have restarted my computer (Win 10 ver 22H2)
I STILL get a FAILED_VALUATION error.
PLEASE provide a fix. I want to complete my filing!
I don't know if this is helpful or not but I had a similar issue with filing my GA return - is your problem with GA or some other State ? - the moderator of this thread had some information from TT that this was a TT issue with GA and it took them 2-3 weeks to resolve. I kept looking for updates and then one week the update "took" and I was able to file my GA return. If you are trying to file multiple returns at the same time - I suggest shifting to do one return at a time to see what the offending State might be and see if there is more information on the threads about your issue. I wish you all the best
Thank you for your comments, johntdick. My filing includes California and the Federal forms. Because of forest fires, we have a deadline for filing of October. TT doesn't give an indication on which filing is impacted. I assumed it was a general network host to host verification problem. TT has billed me for the CA filing, already.
I've just tried to file just the Federal form and I received the usual Validation Error.
