Charles Schwab tax forms not importing in TurboTax

I was able to import my Schwab data to my TurboTax file.  My issue was seeing a blank screen after signing into my Intuit account and selected Charles Schwab & Co to ‘get my data’.  I read so many postings and someone mentioned about changing the screen resolution if you have a newer computer.  So I explored this further.  Note that I’m not a tech savvy person.  I hope you will understand my description.

So here is my solution to get pass the blank screen.  When I saw the blank screen, I changed the screen resolution to another one and it does not matter which one you select.  Once you do that, you will see the Schwab log in screen.  Take your curser to the area where you would enter the user id and type your info.  You will see nothing as you enter but proceed anyway.  Now change your resolution to another selection and you will see your user id input. Next, place your curser over the password area and type in your password without seeing any data.  Change your resolution again to see something was entered as your password.  Change your resolution and click ‘log In’.  Change your resolution to see that you are logged in to your Schwab account.  I think the next step is to certify and agree to allow Schwab to share info with third party.  Just remember to change the resolution with EVERY input, click and action until your Schwab data is downloaded to your tax file.

I have tried importing Schwab forms several times. It always fails. What gives?

An email I received from Intuit customer support advised, "Our records show that this issue has been fixed in the latest TurboTax update, and you should be able to import your financial institution information."

Either the company's records are wrong or their claim about the records is not true.  My TurboTax installation is up to date and has been every time I've attempted to import Schwab data.  But I'm still getting the "login temporarily unavailable" notice.  I am waiting for further assistance.

Please follow the instructions here to run a manual update on your software. This should help resolve the issue.

This is not true. I installed the superpatch manually from the link in the text. Still the very same problem. I can not download my financial documents from Schwab.

The updates don't download and tax filing is in 5 days. So extremely disappointed in TT and the lack of support. Quicken downloads Schwab data just fine yet the supposedly qualified techies at TT can't fix their bug?

I started trying to fix the problem in February.  I downloaded every upgrade that TT sent me, but nothing worked.  I spent a long time on the phone with Schwab's IT people and they couldn't figure out the problem.  Eventually, they gave me TT's support phone number.  I was on the phone for at least 30 minutes, someone tried to figure out the problem, then put me on "hold" while he checked with his superiors but eventually the call was disconnected.

I was left with no choice but to download my tax forms directly from Schwab and manually enter them.  Getting this info put directly into my return instead of doing it manually was the only reason that I  paid for the TT Deluxe software.  There was nothing else that was at all problematic for me.  Now, with just 3 days left before the IRS deadline, you are telling people to repeat the games I played in February.  This is inexcusable.  If TT is at all interested in having Schwab account holders purchase software in the future, it should send each of us a certificate giving us the 2022 programs for free.  That way, if it does not work next year, we will not again waste our money buying it and be comfortable, in the following years, to pay for it ourselves.

Thanks.    This solution is the only thing that worked for me.  Is a pain to keep changing the video resolution aftr every entry, but it worked.

Did you guys get it to work? I am getting "Login temporarily unavailable". Using Turbo Tax Desktop, Premier edition. Its frustrating. Please help

Yes, after a week of getting a blank login screen everytime I tried to import from Schawb, I finally got it to work early this morning by constantly changing the video display resolution for every new window and after entering something for every prompt.   The first time i did it, I did get a similar error to yours when it tried to retrieve the information from Schwab, but it successfully imported it after doing it again a second time.   It doesn't matter which video display setting you use as long as you keep changing it for every new window/prompt for information (you can just change it back and forth between two choices).   It may also help to finally go through successfully if you do it at a less busy time of day ... not sure on that.

Bob, That is interesting info but a totally unacceptable "fix."   If they had any integrity, TT would provide those of us who did not get what we paid for a complimentary package next year as has been suggested.  The 60 day return window expired while many of us were waiting for the bug to be fixed.  I will be shopping around next year.

I, too, am using TurboTax Premier Desktop. Despite following the instructions I received

from the help desk, I'm still getting "login temporarily unavailable." They asked me to

report back if their instructions didn't work. After a few rounds of "try this and tell us

if you still have a problem," I received a message that ended with the suggestion that if

the ideas offered didn't work, "it is most likely you’ll have to summarize your Financial

Institution information."

I have had two discussions with Schwab's help desk, the second lasting an hour and half.

They could find nothing that would be impede my ability to import the data but walked me

through countless changes to settings on my laptop that might affect access, including

changing my password. None of them worked.

Intuit needs to step up to the plate, acknowledge the issue, and offer suitable

compensation to those affected by this issue. Reviewers of tax preparation software should

be made aware of the problem and how poorly and ineffectively it is being handled.
