Using new computer with updated Windows 10. After confirming installation and requesting turbo tax update, the activation screen continues to spin. I try to rerun install with a repair and get an error. I sent that error onto TT.
You didn't mention if you tried these maneuvers, which have allowed several users in this thread and other threads to enter a license code and activate.
In Windows 10 go to the Display settings and review your scaling and resolution settings. Here's how to get there:
Click the Windows start icon in lower left corner of your screen or press the Windows key on your keyboard. Then choose Settings (gear icon), then System, then Display.
Once you are there, do you have scaling set to a higher value than the normal 100%? If so, change it back to 100%. Once the license code is entered and activated, you can later change your scaling setting back like it was.
If lowering the scaling to 100% didn't help, then it may be screen resolution. New computers are often set a very high screen resolution. Try a lower screen resolution such as 800x600. Once you get the license activated, you can revert your resolution setting back like it was.
I tried all that. Same result.

Following the suggestion of another user, I lowered the screen resolution and reentered the program. Worked like a charm. Then, after activation, I went back and raised the resolution again. No problems now.
This works! The pc resolution is creating the problem for the software. In my case, the laptop that I'm using is at 3840 x 2160 (recommended) with scale of 250%. When I lower the resolution turbo tax works.
Thank you!

Thanks Zimboy, I am going to try to change my browser best advise all week!
Thanks
The activation screen will not activate. I get a blank screen.
THANKS. IT WORKS
@jim120345 Have you tried the suggestions throughout the thread regarding screen resolution? If not please give it a try. Additionally here is a reference for troubleshooting blank screen issues.
I'm having the exact same problem with TurboTax Deluxe 2020. I wish I knew how to solve this problem.
If you have the "exact same problem", the solution is also exactly the same as has been mentioned several times in this thread.
If you have a license activation screen that is non-functioning, blank, has missing elements, or is continuously buffering, and if you are using Windows 10, tweaking the display settings can usually resolve that.
In Windows 10, go to the Display settings and review your scaling and resolution settings. Here's how to get there:
Click the Windows start icon in lower left corner of your screen or press the Windows key on your keyboard. Then choose Settings (gear icon), then System, then Display.

Hi mesquitebean,
Thank you! thank you! I appreciate that you took the time to help and it worked! I've been trying to figure this out for some time. I never would have guessed that this was the solution. Can't wait to get the taxes done.
Thank you again! Have a good week!

Once installed and activated, it shouldn't even ask for your activation code again unless you install on a second computer. Have you made any system hardware changes since you last worked on the return, such that it might "think" it's a different computer?
Some users (including myself) have found that if we have a USB thumb drive or external storage device plugged in that wasn't there initially, we get prompted to activate. Removing the USB device has solved it for me and many others. I was prompted to re-activate once when I had a thumb drive plugged in. When I removed the thumb drive, I no longer was prompted to re-activate
Another user reported that his SD card was the culprit. It might also work the other way around; i.e., if a USB drive or SD card was present when installed, but isn't now.
Even if it were to ask to reactivate, it "should" still take your activation code, even though that would use up another of the 5 activations. If it's a USB drive/SD card causing the issue, then removing it and trying again shouldn't use up one of the activations since it no longer requests the code.
Otherwise, if a USB driver or SD card is not causing the reactivation prompt, here's how to phone TurboTax Support.

I have never used any tax software except TurboTax, but based on the issues this year-- this will be my last. I spend most of the afternoon trying to activate Deluxe-- and it was only by searching other forums that I found the fixes-- some from issues identified LAST year-- and TurboTax has not addressed them, nor posted fixes where we could easily find them. First of all, there are compatibility issues with Microsoft Edge. If you are using that as your default browser, try changing it. What finally worked for me (again found it by doing multiple online searches-- no help from Turbo Tax)-- was to change your display settings WAY DOWN to pre-historic levels (800 x 600)-- activate the software-- and then go back in and change the settings back (remember to note your default settings) This is a ridiculous glitch with their software, and as noted earlier-- if they are not going to FIX it-- then their site should have these issues posted where they can be easily found with a simple search. Very disappointed with TurboTax, will be searching for another vendor.
