I successfully imported my 1099 info from EJ. Steps...
Frustrated beyond belief. I was successful at importing my 1099 from Edward Jones (after the second attempt), but not my wifes after several attempts.
TurboTax gives canned responses and links to FAQ's of little help.
Are you using Turbo Tax Online or desktop? If using online, please clear your cache and delete the cookies on your browser. As this will then allow you to import the spouse's 1099. @Hyetek
I am using TurboTax on desktop. I found a workaround by changing the Edward Jones USERID to remove a number from the USERID. If I have time, I'll go back and follow your recommended steps to test. Your recommendation seems to make sense, but I was able to import my 1099R with no issues. Will follow up. Thanks!
Document ID is case sensitive. Make sure to capitalize/lower case the letter. Worked for me. Good luck everyone. Lost about 30 minutes on this...lol
I was having problems downloading using Microsoft Edge also. I kept getting the "System does not recognize the UserID" message. I followed jhitch's steps and it worked perfectly
I use a Mac computer, Safari browser and desktop version of TurboTax. I was trying to import 2022 tax forms from Edward Jones and kept getting the error message -
“From Edward Jones: The system did not recognize the user ID or password. Please try again.”
I know the password and ID were correct, as they worked on the Edward Jones website. I tried many things, but doing the following finally resolved my issue. I disabled my Edward Jones Two-Factor Authentication. I then went in my Safari settings to the Privacy tab. I cleared all my Safari history and cookies, but I know this alone didn’t resolve anything for me. Next and most importantly, I took a picture of those current settings under Privacy and then unchecked everything. I then logged back into the Edward Jones website to recreate it’s cookie. I restarted the TurboTax application and tried the import again which successfully download the forms. Afterwards, I put my Privacy settings back to normal and again cleared the cookies.
OMG, I have been struggling with this issue for two weeks and have spent countless hours. Based on your Chrome suggestion, I was finally able to get to Edward Jones via desktop Turbo Tax. Hallelujah!
This is the error message I get when trying to import from Edward Jones. Import worked fine last year. Any ideas

I was able to import the consolidated 1099, but all of my sales of capital assets defaulted to short-term even tho Edward Jones had them listed as long term. Turbotax flagged them in error and I had to manually change each one. Also, the ones that were actually short term should have been a single total on Sched D but instead it listed every line on form 8949.
Problems with importing from Edward Jones, Morgan Stanley, Schwab, Fidelity, etc., etc., can't be each of these firms has issues... might look at TT software problems. Just wondering if a couple of 3rd level TT Software pros (if any) might setup some time to test, evaluate, and FIX the clear problem many loyal TT users are having with importing 1099s, etc. into many versions of TT software.
Your message is spot-on... I've had issues in 2022 and 2023 importing a 1099-R from Fidelity Investments regarding my Required Minimum Distribution (RMD) from a Traditional IRA account. After importing, many hours wasted with several TT Tax consultants attempting to fix an erronously reported error that "must be fixed" in my NY State e-filed return that resulted from subject imported 1099-R. One consultant helped... likely seen this TT Online Software import issue before... going back to the federal return, deleted the imported Fidelity 1099, added a new 1099-R, and entered the RMD data manually.
Suggestion: ditch the TT 1099 import feature, and enter your 1099 data manually... this will save lots of grief and time working with TT "experts" to resolve many apparent software issues with 1099 importing to TT softaware.
I was having problems with importing; followed your instructions to the letter, and it worked. THANK YOU!
