Can't Efile. Because "At least two of the four withholding and wage amounts on W-2 statement have same dollar amount"

I did have a w2 that had 0 for federal withheld and I changed it to 0.01 like that dude above me said and im still getting the error. I know for a fact there is no duplicate information. Can anyone help?

If there is no withholding in box 2 then leave the field blank ... don't even enter a zero.

Also from Indiana.  I went back and looked at least 5 times.  I finally figured out that on one of our W2's there was a 9-cent difference between what was withheld for Fed versus what was withheld for State.  The IRS rounds the dollar figures such that if the amount is less than 50 cents (or maybe less than/equal to) they assume the whole dollar amount rounded down (that is, $10.25 would be $10 to the IRS).  Anything above that magic figure is rounded up (that is, $10.52, would be $11 to the IRS).  So, the Fed & State withholdings - after both were rounded down - were the exact same amount, at least according to Uncle Sam.

I have not yet filed, I want to recheck myself; however, going through the process, I intentionally changed the amount of withholding on one of the figures such that it would NOT be the same as the rounded amount and found out that eFiling will now work.

Still seems like a bug in the TT software, but in the end, it did not impact my overall tax obligation to either Fed or State.  Being in IT, I would strongly advise the good folks at TT review their software and fix this.  It does not seem to be working correctly.

I had the same issue (in Indiana) because I had 1 blank box and 1 $0.25 dollar amount in the indicated boxes the second one that rounded down to zero. I just deleted one of them leaving the box blank and then I was able to e-file my state taxes. It did not change anything about my return so I hope it is still accepted, but I really didn't want to print it out and send it via USPS because of a $0.25 entry that rounds down to zero. We'll see what happens. Definitely a stupid glitch probably meant to eliminate mistakes, but very inconvenient for the fee I am paying.

I have done the same and still have the same error message. There are no duplicate numbers on three W-2 I have entered. Why are we paying for this service if we cant electronically file? I might as well do my taxes the old fashion way if I have to mail them.

Ok ... did you get 2 W-2 forms from the same employer using the same EIN?

Or did you and the spouse work at the same place ?

Or is one of the W-2 forms just an overflow page where there is only info in box 12 or the state boxes 15 - 20 ?

So I had this same issue when doing my son's taxes and I figured out why it was happening.

It is a rounding issue.  He worked briefly at a company and his tax federal tax with holding (box 2) was $3.00.  His Local income tax with holding (box 19) was $3.49.  I changed that number to $3.51 and it worked.

This happened to our taxes too, and the fields are blank. They do NOT say $0. They are blank. This is SO CLEARLY a bad algorithm on Turbo Tax's end. How do I ask for my money back from Turbo Tax for this very lame algorithm. I should not have to put in $0.01, which is false, to get it to process?

IT IS A ROUNDING ISSUE for sure. Make sure that lines 2 and 19 do not round to the nearest same dollar. Probably the same for other lines but lines 2 and 19 were what got me stuck. Good luck everyone. I just spent like 4 hours trying to figure this out. I did NOT want to send a paper copy of my Indiana returns. I just got them both efiled after fixing the rounding issue.

Have this error and tried multiple fixes and could not fix it. I want my $59 back that I had to pay to continue with Turbo Tax. This error has been for two years by all the comments and Turbo Tax has not fixed it.

I am not sure what fixes you have tried but below are some suggestions:

In TurboTax Online or CD/Download:

  1. Open or continue your return
  2. From the menu, select Search and type-in W-2
  3. Select the Jump to link in the search results
  4. On the Your W-2 info so far screen, select Edit next to the W-2 you want to change
  5. Select the trash can Delete icon to delete the W-2

In the TurboTax mobile app:

  1. Open or continue your return
  2. Select Wages & Income
  3. Select Review/Edit
  4. Select Job (W-2)
  5. Select Review to edit the W-2
  6. Select the three-dot icon and select Delete

2. If you are not successful in deleting your W2s as indicated, then use the Tools feature as follows:

  2. Click Tax Tools from the left side of the screen
  3. Select Tools from the drop-down menu

Indiana has a rounding issue, which tends to be an issue when the amount of income is below $100.

I changed .46 to .51  for Local income tax and it worked.  Hopefully that won't be a problem.

Rounding up should not create a problem for efiling or with the State

Some Tax forms issued by the IRS and the States do not allow for the entry of cents, so you have to round up numbers in order to complete them properly.
