You can resubmit your tax return for 2022 using the following steps:
- Download TurboTax Desktop.
- Sign in to TurboTax, you must use the same account that you used to prepare your 2022 tax return, and
- Select Continue on the first screen. (Note: If you can't remember your sign in info, try account recovery.)
- Select Your tax returns & documents.
- Select Download .tax file (not the PDF) for 2022 and save it to your computer. (Note: If the year you're looking for isn't there, it might be in a different account. Go here to find all of your accounts.)
- Go back to TurboTax Desktop software, select Find a Tax File, and locate your 2022 tax data file you downloaded in the previous step.
- Select the file and select Open.
- Finish filling out your tax return.
- Once you have finished preparing your return, follow these instructions (Windows or Mac) to print and mail your return.
You should mail your return using certified mail with a return receipt to prove the date you mailed your tax return and when the IRS received it.
