Bought from Amazon $49; now must upgrade for addn $99 for Premium Fed Schedule

I've used Desktop TurboTax Deluxe for many years. I have Windows 10.
I bought Online TurboTax Deluxe assuming it had the same Schedules and Forms (it does not). I bought it from Amazon for around $49.

When I came across the missing Schedule, TT offered to upgrade to Online Premium for $99 (the full cost).
Why isn't TT offering to charge me just the difference - around $50?
Can anyone here point me to a way to appeal to TT to charge me only the difference? Or, should I just move on from Intuit/TT to a company that is more transparent about their offerings/capabilities and pricing?

You will have to contact TurboTax support for assistance with this problem. Use the key words Billing Issue

See this TurboTax support FAQ for contacting support - https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/account-management/turbotax-phone-number...

yes online has different pricing tiers for different schedules, it can be more expensive than desktop and you can only do 1 return per account.  also as you may be aware by now the workflow is different, there is no forms mode.

there was an offer 2025 if you bought the desktop version, to be able to upgrade to online premium for Fed and State at no extra cost, see article & screenshot below.

no one here can resolve a billing issue tho, you'd need to call Turbotax support and see whether you can switch to this other offer or get a refund for online in these circumstances (say "billing" when you call I think).  Otherwise I think they regard the 'online' product purchased thru a retailer as non-refundable, see here.

I contacted the 800 number for the "Billing Issue".

Intuit TurboTax will not honor the advertised policy of charging only for the difference between the current product and the desired upgraded product (which in my case is about $50).

Terrible customer service for a long time user. You've lost me for life, Intuit. The whole using the same name for a product (Deluxe) when the different varieties are not functionally equivalent? That's baloney.

It seems there were lawsuits (or at least outcry) about this type of bad behavior in the past.

I'll be moving on but won't hesitate to leave an appropriate product/conduct review whenever the opportunity presents itself.
