If you decide to print and mail your return (instead of e-filing your return), you need to have it postmarked no later than April 15, 2020 for the return to be considered timely filed.

I thought TurboTax.inuit was mailing my finished taxes electronically and didn't realize TurboTax.inuit did not  mail my taxes. On June 12, 2022 I was curious to know where my refund was only to find my refund still sitting in my account.  I printed all paperwork to send.  Will I still get my refund? Why didn't I get an email letting me know my taxes we just sitting in my account? It states electronically files so why were they not sent?

Wait.   Do not mail it.  It sounds like it was efiled.  What do you mean it was still sitting in your account?  Turbo Tax is not updated when the IRS sends your refund.  It is taking the IRS a long time to process and pay refunds.  Like 6 months or more.

Was you efile accepted?  If you used the Online version you can check your efile status here

https://turbotax.intuit.com/tax-tools/efile-status-lookup/

When you efile you get back 2 emails.  The first email only confirms the transmission.  The second email says if the IRS (or state) Accepted or Rejected your efile.  And check your spam folder for them.

When you log into your account you should also see the status and if it was Accepted or Rejected, Started, Printed, Ready to Mail, etc.  What does it say?

@Savini-1 In order to e-file your tax return YOU have to go all the way through the FILE section and click a big orange button that says "Transmit my returns now."   If you do not do that then your return has not been filed.  Or, if you want to file by mail, you have to print it, sign and date it in ink, and mail it yourself.  If you did not do either of those things then you can still file the return.   If you are getting a refund there is no penalty for filing after the deadline.   If you owe tax due, your penalties and interest began to add up after the deadline and the IRS will bill you after they receive the return and the payment of the tax due as shown on the Form 1040.

Did you e-file?

Did you click a big orange button that said “Transmit my returns now?”

When you e-file your federal return you will receive two emails from TurboTax.  The first one will say that your return was submitted.  The second email will tell you if your federal return was accepted or rejected.  If you e-filed a state return, there will be a third email to tell you if the state accepted or rejected your state return.

First, check your e-file status to see if your return was accepted:

https://turbotax.intuit.com/tax-tools/efile-status-lookup/

If the IRS accepted it, what does it say here?

https://www.irs.gov/refunds

Or does your account say “Ready to Mail?”

Note:  If it says “Ready to Mail” or “Printed” that means YOU have to mail it yourself.  TurboTax does not mail your tax return for you.

If your e-file was accepted:

Once your federal return has been accepted by the IRS, only the IRS has any control.  TurboTax does not receive any updates from the IRS. Your ONLY source of information about your refund now is the IRS.

You need your filing status, your Social Security number and the exact amount  (line 35a of your 2021 Form 1040) of your federal refund to track your Federal refund:

https://www.irs.gov/refunds

To track your state refund:

https://ttlc.intuit.com/questions/1901548-why-do-some-refunds-take-longer-than-others

If you chose to have your TurboTax fees deducted from your federal refund, that will take some extra time, while the third party bank handles the refund processing.

OR——if you filed by mail, expect a long wait.   It is taking the very backlogged IRS six to nine months to process mailed returns.   Until a human opens your envelope and enters the data into the system, nothing will even show up on the refund site, so you will have to be very patient.
