For tax year 2020, I filed my own tax, and my parents did NOT claim me as a dependent.
I received the 3rd stimulus check ($1,400) in 2021. (This is the only stimulus check I ever received.)
My parents are doing their 2021 tax return, and they are NOT eligible for stimulus checks due to high AGI. (BTW, I turned 24 years old in 2021.) If they claim me as a dependent *and* I also file my own tax return (and indicate someone else can claim as a dependent), would government ask for $1,400 back? Or will I be allowed to keep it?

No you get to keep the $1400 --- you do not have to pay it back. Since you are 24, the only way they can claim you is if you had less than $4300 of income in 2021. Does that fit? If they claim you they get a $500 credit for other dependents. If their income is too high they do not get the $1400 for claiming you.
Thank you for your detailed explanation.
No, my 2021 income is over $4,300. It's slightly under $12,000 (less than the standard deduction amount). So, it appears that my parents can NOT claim me as a dependent.
My question (and wishful thinking) was if I could keep $1,400 stimulus check, *and* at the same time, help my parents by being a dependent on their tax return. Well, I tried... 🙂
