THANK YOU! I tried to install 2020 last night (on a laptop we purchased in October) and sure enough, got the activation screen hangup with blue dot. I thought I'd be on forever with a helpdesk figuring it out until a search provided this thread. It worked, so grateful you posted it.
THANK YOU!! This worked for me too.
Come on, Intuit, I shouldn’t have to go SEARCHING through multiple help threads to find solutions to known issues. There must be thousands of people with newer computers this will impact. Put this information in your Help information or FAQs.
10 gold stars for @NCperson for relieving my frustration!
I have exactly the same problem with Turbotax Deluxe 2020 -Blank screen with "Turbotax Deluxe 2020-Activation that goes no further. What is Turbotax going to do about this?

Another user posted this fix. See if it works for you -
The Resolution provided a Resolution for me as well.
New WIndows Machine Oct 2020.
I tried TT19 on it as a check.
Blank activation screen, wasted 2 days etc. no fix.
I had already filed so just decided to write it off as another software screw up I paid for.
Got TT20 just today.
Same thing, blank activation screen. Oh, SHYTE.
Refreshed same thread I had from October, Resolution Fix & this thread popped up.
IT WORKED.
I didnt change or deactivate anti-virus or anything.
Just set resolution to 800x600, then start TT20, enter code, start using it.
Then reset resolution to eg 1920x1080.
I also brought TT19 back up & did same, fix worked there too.
Thanks so much for posting the fix.
I like TurboTax but man, this could be a company killer. Could you imagine if your CAR did this on the freeway? Pileup, deaths, etc. Fix is SO easy & it's been over month - will all TT users get this "surprise" this year? How many will find this thread?
I think a joint Team / Management Offsite is needed, Ocean View Rooms, all that, to develop a Lessons Learned plan, and mainly eat Good Food. Can I come too?
I've been struggling with this for a couple of days and after reading this string, I tried 800x600 and could read the activation screen but could not enter the code. So, I tried changing the screen resolution to 1024 x 768 and I was able to read the screen and enter the activation code.
I activated the software, exited, change my screen resolution back to its normal setting, launched turbotax again and it appears to be working.
This is ridiculous!
It worked for me too, however with quite a bit more effort...
I first copied the activation code, switched resolution to 800x600, still a blank screen, tried to copy, nothing. Switched to 1024x768, ah ha, something in the activation box but still couldn't erase, or so I thought. Even though I thought nothing was happening it was. Make sure the box is empty, paste in your code, switch resolution to something else, my text appeared. Click the "activate now" button, switched resolution to something else and voila...
Thanks for everyone's work on this..
Wow after 2hours 2 different days saw your post while still on hold. 5 min up and running perfect. Thank You !!!!!
I have also a brand new machine with Win 10 home 20H2; and have tried everything including this odd display resolution "fix". Activation is still not working and the logs keep pointing to certificate failures (see below). the screen is present and I can paste the activation key into it. the screen swirls but then fails.
The interesting thing is TT will install updates when launched but will not activate. I have tried turning off every firewall/security feature, placing the turbotax exe's in the exception apps, turned off wifi and direct connected, upgraded and verified all upgrades of Windows & Defender (security software) confirmed running as administrator. Certificates all appear to be valid and I can even get to the websites that TT is using to confirm internet access.
I am at a loss as to what or how to resolve this. If anyone has a solution to try, I would appreciate some help.

changing screen resolution worked for me to transfer over my 2019 taxes! Thank you all
After hours of trying to install 2020TT on my new computer, contacting TT help and going through the steps they suggested, I came across your solution (changing the resolution) and it worked! Thank you. But I can't believe that TT doesn't put this problem with new computers in a prominent place on its website.
This worked like a charm.....RESOLUTION CHANGES AND BAM like MAGIC THANK YOU
This worked for me as well. Thanks a lot. None of the other fixes had any effect, and that blue dot was driving me nuts.
OMG. I just got a new computer, and installed TT premier 2020. Had this exact problem and changing the screen resolution fixed it! This seems so ridiculous, but it works. That's great. Thanks for figuring this out!
I have the same problem. I downloaded turbotax software on my old computer and prepared and filed the 1040 for 2019.
To prepare my 1040 for 2020 I bought a new MacBook air.
I downloaded 2019 turbo software on this new MacBook Air. But there was a problem with this computer and returned it to Apple for another MacBook Air. I downloaded the 2019 turbotax software onto this MacBook Air. Unfortunately I had problem with this computer also. So I decided and I bought a MacBook Pro . I downloaded 2019 turbotax software and entered activation code. But it rejected it because I used up my activation limit on 5 computer . I think turbotax rejecting because I used tax activation on two MacBook Air computers which I returned to Apple. Now , how can I explain this to Turbotax
