I have premier for mac download. worked until today 4/23/21 when opening program, screen says updates needed. Can't skip updates and when option to update is taken it just freezes and update never completes. can't bypass update or open tax file.
If restarting the Mac does not solve the problem then:
Corruption could have occurred in the Application or in an associated preference or support file.
The best remedy is to totally uninstall TurboTax and all associate files and then re-install. That will not delete or change any .tax2020 data file that had already been created with the tax data.
To uninstall the application and all associated files need to be deleted and then the application reinstalled. If there was a state then the state must also be reinstalled.
To remove TurboTax from your computer, you'll need administrative rights.

Same with me - I am using the Desktop Version. I even upgraded to Premium and it still freezes. I need to enter another 1099-B and cannot due to this bug in the Software.
Husband's tax return shows standard deduction which is correct. When trying to complete wife's tax return, it states husband is itemizing deductions & therefore will not allow wife to take standard deduction.
Help is needed.
Thank you.
I think that would only come from the beginning under My Info. Go back to My Info and check under filing status. There should be a screen asking for spouse info and then a screen with 3 more items. The first one says.....either my spouse or I claimed Itemized Deductions.
Turbo Tax is asking for review of an untitled 1099-DIV. I have no such item to report nor input info. This is an error. If I hit "DONE" it goes back to "Review". I cannot delete mistake nor move forward to complete tax filing. HELP please!

This answer will assume you are using Online TurboTax (web version).
If you have an unwanted 1099-DIV (untitled) in your return showing up in the Review/error check that you need to delete, try this:
I was attempting to show a carry forward of a 2019 NOL. When I figured it out, TT will not calculate net farm Profit on schedule F. I t shows 0 when there is a profit. I changed a couple of expenses to see if it would make a difference, it still shows 0.
Also the carry over work sheet shows the loss came from 2018 and shows it as a passive loss I am at full risk of this loss, the business is a has QBI
My tax return for 2019 showed an incorrect balance on my Roth IRA. Even though this had no effect on the tax return, do I need to file an amended return? Also how do I dispose of it on the 2020 return since it was closed in 2020 and there is no balance left.
Just tried to NetFile my 2020 return using Turbo Tax Premium. Got an error code 380010 back from the CRA. They told me it has to resolved by contacting Turbo Tax. The 1-800 number with its artificial stupidity algorithm proved less than useless.
None of the responses are remotely connected to Canadian NetFiling. This is as bad as the so-called help line.
I tried netfiling my 2020 return and the CRA sent me an error code 380010 saying I had to contact Turbo Tax to resolve it.
Again, no Canadian informastion!

I purchased Turbo Tax 2020 from Staples. In the interview I entered the data for all of my Schedule E properties. Then I entered the 1099-MISC form which arrived in the mail later. This caused the taxes owed to jump from $6,507 to $11,278. This does not seem correct.

Is the 1099-MISC associated with your Schedule E properties? Is it rental or royalty income?
Where in the interview did you enter the 1099-MISC? There are a couple of places one can enter a 1099-MISC. It can be entered as one goes through the Schedule E rental/royalty interview, or it could be entered in a separate topic called "1099-MISC and Other Common Income" and then linked to Schedule E. Obviously, you wouldn't want to enter it in both places.
If you had already entered the data in the rental/royalty interview, and then entered a 1099-MISC are you sure you haven't reported the income twice? Have you gone into Forms Mode and looked at the Schedule E Worksheet to see if you can get a clue as to what is happening?
