i purchased desktop premier home and business Oct 26,2023 and I was just billed $105 for destop advantage premier. Why?
You'll need to sign in or create an account to connect with an expert.
And by the way, for the Desktop CD/Download programs you can buy any version. All the Desktop programs have the same forms. You just get more help and guidance in the higher versions. But don't buy Basic, it doesn't include a state program.
Did you need the 2022 program? And you don't need to have the Advantage auto renew subscription. You can buy Turbo Tax as a one time purchase or buy it in the stores like Costco or Amazon, almost anywhere.
For the future........You can sign into your Turbo Tax Advantage account and under Your Product, select to Remove Product. Once you remove the recurring product order, the Turbo Tax Advantage subscription will be cancelled as well.

No one in the user forum can resolve a billing issue. If you have a question about your TurboTax fees or billing, make sure you use the word “billing” in your request for help. Do not use the word “refund.”

@rohnnk not following your question,. Unlike the Online version where you pay once you complete your tax return, with the desktop/ download version you pay in advance.
Conceptually, you can't see the tax return until you pay. With Desktop, that means you pay at the beginning of the process because once the software is downloaded to your laptop, TT can't force you to pay once the tax return is complete - you could just print and mailand avoid paying.
is that what you are surprised at?
Well..also it's not clear what you did?
1} Did you pre-purchase 2023 H&B on 26 Oct?
2) or did you buy 2022 H&B on 26 Oct.?
The $105 Premier charge is for the "Advantage" program you signed up for, some time in the past, in which you agreed to have TTX auto-charge you, and provide a new desktop Premier download for the next year's desktop program, every year, as soon as it is issued...which, for 2023 software, was in the past couple days.
And Premiere is separate from the Home & Business program. So we don't know what you bought Oct 26, 2023. Did you get 2 charges on your credit card?
I am learning the TT system. I purchased the 2022 desktop premier version on 10/26, then I added home and business version. I am a former CPA and have been filing my own tax returns for 50 years. Getting into some pretty complicated transactions for coming year and I thought I could use TT to backup/verify my spreadsheets. I was not aware that TT was year specific, after all the tax system is the tax system. I was renewed automatically on 11/3, I did not know that TT puts out a new version every November. I think I now understand how TT lives.
@rohnnk There is a new version of TT for each tax year, programmed specifically for the tax laws in effect for that year and including the forms specific to that tax year. You need a new program each year. If you use a past year software program for your current year, the return will be all wrong.
@xmasbaby0 you may be able to contact TT for a refund for 2022 - I think they have a 30 day money back guarentee.

Thanks for the tips, I had no idea what I was buying, I have been doing my own returns for 50 years just wanted something to double check my spreadsheets.
