Where are the tax tools

Are you using the phone app?

If you are using a computer, it is to the left.

Where are the tax tools

@sergeyweiss

..the BUT to this is... BUT you must be inside your actual 2020 tax return somewhere before the Tax Tools selection shows up.

Be aware that the red arrow in @ ColeenD3 image above is likely left over from something else.  Tax Tools is indeed on the image she provided, but it is lower down.  So ignore that red arrow.  I suspect that image was made for some other user with a different problem.

I had also left you some info and an image here in your other thread:

We don't know what the situation is with your 2020 return (in preparation; finished but not filed; already efiled and accepted, or what) and what all you are wanting to do with Tax Tools.  If you're unable to get the answer you want in this user forum, we can tell you how to phone TurboTax Support, and they can talk you through it.

Here is more:

1. Yesterday: I finished Federal and State, TurboTax Online

then I wanted to save data file onto my PC

I started looking how to do this.

Everyone saying "Look for Tax Tools at Left"

But all I saw is:

As you see, the area where tools should be is EMPTY

2. Today I went there again:

3. I think there is a glitch or defect there.

4. I'm trying to add two pictures to demonstrate these screenshots, but POST button throws an Error removing these pictures I just add (Your post has been changed because invalid HTML was found in the message body. The invalid HTML has been removed. Please review the message and submit the message when you are satisfied.).

Trying to  embed images for second time. Clicking on POST now....

There you go, the first picture I've added as screenshot for #1 below was removed. Adding it once again.

Dear Intuit developers, could you fix programming defects? I can't attach screenshots using your "Insert Photos" tool. My browser is Google Chrome.

In the first image you posted Tax Tools is present in the left menu column, and right below it is the tab for Tools.

In the second image, Tax Tools is not present in the left menu column because it may have opened on that screen while your return is not open enough.  You would first have to click on the Tax Home tab and open  your return to get the full left column menu to appear.  If clicking on the Tax Home tab doesn't change anything,  then what happens if you click the small "Back" link near the bottom of your image?  Does the "Back link" take you back to a screen with the full menu?

You've been saying (in this thread and your other thread) that you are trying to download the "data file." You are at an unusual point in your return to be trying to download the *.tax2020 data file.   You haven't yet said why you are wanting to download the 2020 data file prior to filing your return.  It IS possible to get the data file prior to filing, but it's best to wait until AFTER your return has been efiled and accepted.   After filing and accepted, the data file has additional info in it, so you would still have to download it again later for it to be up to date.

Or are you wanting to download the *.tax2020 data file so you can switch to 2020 desktop software (CD/download) to finish and file the return instead of finishing and filing in Online TurboTax?

Or are you using the wrong terminology?     You've been saying "data file" without providing a reason, but are you merely wanting to review your return prior to filing?   If so, you won't be able to use the data file without 2020 desktop software. If you just want to review your return before you finish filing in Online TurboTax, then you need to download a PDF of your return for the purposes of review--NOT a data file.   We can tell you how to get a PDF to review, if that's the case.

In any case, if you prefer, you can talk in realtime to the folks at TurboTax Customer Support.  In a conversation they can hopefully figure out exactly what and why you are wanting to do and talk you through the screens.

Hours are 5AM-9PM Pacific (8AM-12 Midnight Eastern) 7 days/week.
