Turbo Tax 2018 and education credit

I did search this forum before I posted for an answer to this question and did not find one.

So I'm trying to do a 2018 return and the education section wont seem to work, it wont allow me to put the name of the school (certificate program not 1098T with an exception) it simply wont go to the section and wont allow me to put the school name and Ein, hence no credit. this happen to anyone else?

First, make sure that your software is up to date.  Click on Online at the top of the desktop program screen.  Click on Check for Updates.  If the software is up to date, save your tax return and close the TurboTax program.

Try this if not already an administrator for the program -

Right click on the TurboTax icon

Click on Properties

Click on the Compatibility tab

Check the box Run this program as an administrator

Click on Apply and OK

Restart the TurboTax program and see if the problem persists.

did all that, no such luck

Did you indicate you were a dependent on someone else's return in the MY INFO section ?   That will stop the education credit from populating.

Or filing as Married filing Separate?

No I did not.

in fact I started a whole new return and its still happening, is it like the exception expired for 2018 or something? or is there a glitch in MY software?

it the income is 45k

Also ive seen the income limits hit, this is different, its not simply not giving the credit its skipping part where I enter the info.  imported to a 2019 (Cuz I DO also have to do 2019) and it goes RIGHT into it no questions asked

Since you must be using the downloaded program you can switch to the FORMS mode to work on the form and the correlating worksheets.  IF you bring up the form in the FORMS mode and then switch to the STEP BY STEP mode then you should be taken to the interview for that section.   OR  click on the Deductions & Credits section and choose the EDUCATION credit directly there.
