Where would I add my moving truck rental to the moving expenses? Do I add the gas I paid and how much I paid for the truck? Can I also include gas for my personal car?

I moved for work across the country. I rented a penske truck for my belongings and we drove my personal car and truck to my new home. What expenses can I claim, gas for both cars? and what I paid to rent the truck?

To enter your moving expenses do the following (also see attached screenshots:(

  1. Click Federal
  2. Deductions & Credits
  3. Scroll Down Click Show More next to Other Deductions and Credits
  4. Click Start next to Moving Expenses
  5. Answer the questions to you get to the Enter Your Moving Expenses section

As long as you meet the qualifications to deduct your moving expenses, you can either deduct your actual gas costs for the rental vehicle under the cost of transporting and Storing your household Goods. You can deduct gas and oil expenses for your personal car or you can take a mileage deduction of $.17/mile if you tracked your actual miles driven.
