@12boutside , please share this thread on social media and tag Intuit and then also on LinkedIn
I'm also having the same issue... 3 different 1098's. All are entered correctly. Keep getting error. Hope TurboTax resolves this know issue, otherwise I'm switching to a competitor.
Hi @coolguy503 , totally understand. I think most of us will be doing that if they don't fix this by end of the month. In the meanwhile, please tag and share this thread on LinkedIn and Twitter please.
"This is not a State Form issue. This worksheet is for schedule A, and that is at Federal level."
Incorrect, I was able to file my Federal taxes by taking the standard deduction, but I can't file my California state taxes because of this error. FYI California requires to to attach all Federal schedules and worksheets and still provides the full mortgage interest deduction, so if you refinanced last year and live in California you will hit this error.
Same Error. Opened incident with Intuit and it was closed with the explanation "Update should come after February 17th. Tried again today (February 22nd) and downloaded update. No change - problem still occurring. I reached out to some Turbo Tax execs this evening and they have promised to look into it. Will update the group on progress.
Hi @sonofsmog1 ,
I should have clarified. It is not JUST a State issue. It is also affecting Federal.
I see you were able to file as you took standard deduction. Your situation may be different, where it didn't affect your bottom line too much by taking standard deduction.
It is not working for people who don't even have State Taxes.
Same issue here, and from the error message it said "We expect this form to be available after Feb 17th" and today is Feb 20th, still getting the same error.
What a blocker!!!!
same here Feb 21st
I'm getting the same error in TurboTax Deluxe
Warned my 1000+ connections on LinkedIn this morning.
I, too, have been getting this error now for several weeks. I refi'd my primary residence last year, so naturally, IU received two separate 1098s. This can't be out of the norm. I tried checking for updates (after the 17th), but it says my software is up-to-date. So, what's the remedy? File anyway, in spite of the "error?"
I waited a few days after 2/17 to retry. After wasting some more time this morning, it still doesn't work. I've spent quite some time searching for answers and re-entering everything, and still this same stupid error. Really frustrating. What the hell. Really disappointed with TT. Who is their competitor? I could have re-done everything on a different platform by now.
Hi @ABCD2022 ,
Yes frustrating. Most of us are hoping that the Feb 28th date that one agent gave is true, so I'm waiting until then.
Although someone here posted that they moved to TaxAct and it worked without any flaws. There is also H&R Block.
But please, whether you switch or not, definitely share this thread on Twitter tagging TT to please take notice and also share on LinkedIn.
Hopefully TT can provide clarity this week.
Hi @tadelaney ,
So your question on "File anyway". I think the problem is that it doesn't let you file, even if you try.
But the real question is that is the calculation correct? You can look at IRS Publication and do your calculation manually to see if it matches?
I'd advise not to file, until the error fixes.
Most of us are waiting to see if TT actually fixes it by end of this month, Feb 28th, the date their agents seem to have given to a few of us.
If not, the competitors you can switch to are Tax Act and H&R Block. Some people here have done so and had no issues filing.
But whether you switch or not, please help everyone here by sharing this thread on Twitter and tagging TT and also sharing it on LinkedIn and asking TT to please take notice.
