Refund is less and comes from "TPG PRODUCTS SBTPG LLC"

Any update on this? I just got my return 10/26/22 deposited by TPG and it was over $1,500 less than what the IRS told me it would be. Where and when am I gonna get the rest of my refund?

@Ramirezb806 No one at TurboTax knows when the IRS reduces your refund; TurboTax does not get any information from the IRS after you file your return.   There have been lots of people whose refunds were reduced because of mistakes made with the recovery rebate credit and/or the child tax credit.  If the IRS reduced your refund you will receive a letter from the IRS in several weeks.

Sometimes we can make an educated guess as to the reason for your reduced refund if you mention specific amounts--for example if your refund was short by $1400 per person---it is likely to be a mix up regarding the 3rd EIP payment.    If you received the 3rd stimulus check of $1400 per person in 2021 then you got letter 6475 from the IRS about it.   You needed to enter the amount you received.   If you already received that money then line 30 on your Form 1040 should have been blank.

If it is short by $1800 or  $1500 or  a multiple of that amount  ---   maybe a mixup regarding the advance child tax credit payments. If you received monthly child tax credit payments of $250 or $300 per month between July and December of 2021, then you got letter 6419 from the IRS, and you were required to enter the amount of the advance payments.   Only the remaining amount of the CTC should have been on line 28 of your Form 1040.

The IRS knows how much they sent to you for the 3rd stimulus check and they know how much they sent for advance child tax credit payments.   If you answered something incorrectly on your tax return then the IRS made a correction that resulted in a reduced refund for you.

The IRS will send you a letter that explains why your refund was reduced or why you owe more.   Meanwhile it might help you to check your online IRS account.

If you need to trace a payment that the IRS says has been issued to you, mail or fax a completed IRS Form 3911, Taxpayer Statement Regarding Refund.

I spoke with an Intuit person who told me how to send in a form that shows I did not receive the Third Stimulus Check - the IRS assumed that everyone did - and even though we were told it was not taxable, the Government saw to it that they got their money back.  I have not heard yet about my circumstances.  It's been about a month.  This is the address where I started...https://www.taxpayeradvocate.irs.gov/contact-us/submit-a-request-for-assistance/

@rise22 Did you check your IRS online account to see if the IRS shows they sent you that 3rd EIP?   Did the IRS send you Letter 6475 saying that you got the 3rd payment?

https://www.irs.gov/payments/your-online-account

If the IRS shows they sent you the $1400 per person 3rd stimulus and you did not receive it, you can also have the IRS put a trace on the payment:

https://www.irs.gov/newsroom/questions-and-answers-about-the-third-round-economic-impact-payment-top...

And.... no----the stimulus money was not taxable.   When you prepared your 2021 tax return you were supposed to answer the questions in Federal Review and enter whether you got the 3rd stimulus.   If you did NOT get it then the amount owed to you should have shown up on line 30 of your Form 1040.   If the IRS believes you already received the amount you had on line 30, then they reduced your refund.

I just got my state returns back. It is $7.00 less than it should be. I've read numerous complaints about the same issue. I have never had a issue filing with Turbo Tax except for this year. When I filed, I tried paying with my credit card, which didn't take, it also didn't tell me why my card wasnt accepted. I reluctantly chose to get my refund from my Federal returns..Don't tell me there was some sort of error, because I know I didn't make any, since I claim the same every year.

Id like an explanation or I will contact the BBB and find another site to do my taxes for this year.

Sometimes refunds are lower than expected if you elect to have Turbo Tax fees deducted from your refund, or if you have an offset. The IRS can also adjust your return if they see errors on it as they are reviewing it.

You can see what you are being charged for. Click on Tax Tools from the Menu on the left side of your return. Click Tools then My Fees. This will show you what you are being charged for.

This article will provide information as to why your refund is less.

If you choose to have your Turbo Tax Fees deducted from your refund, there is a fee.

@lesah1962   Your state Refund was $7 less?  Then you have to ask your state why they sent you less.  They should mail you a letter explaining what they changed.  Your state refund comes directly from the state to you and doesn't go though the SBTPG bank or the IRS.

How to contact the state

I also checked on the  IRS  website. They said my foredune was $158 for federal. I checked to see when I would get it. The irs website said February 8. And I only received $25.17. I feel robbed and ripped off. I don’t trust the government. I needed that money. I have bills to pay.

What happened to the rest of my money?

Same for me. I'm missing almost $250 from my return. Very disappointed Turbo Tax. I've used you because you've been reliable over the last 10 years that I've used your services. I hope to see the refund from them that you claim we should be receiving in the next 24 to 48 hours otherwise my business will be elsewhere and a BBB and AG complaint will be filed.

Yes same here. I just got my refund back for all I’m total was suppose to be 1325. I received the first half from irs for 665 for state and then federal was suppose to be 1071 but I only received 947.76 which is like almost 300 dollars short. I want to speak with someone since they took a lot a pretty good amount and want a refund on it .

@Breeskii3

Is the amount sent/issued by the IRS the same as the refund amount shown on your federal tax return Form 1040 Line 35a? - https://www.irs.gov/refunds

Have you factored in the TurboTax account fees and the TPG service charge of $39?
Review your TurboTax account fees -
Sign onto the TurboTax website with the User ID you used to create the account - https://myturbotax.intuit.com/
Scroll down to the bottom of the screen and on the section Your tax returns & documents click on View Order Details

If you requested to have the TurboTax account fees deducted from your federal tax refund, the IRS will send the refund to a third party processor to have the fees and the service charge deducted. The third party processor will deduct the TurboTax fees plus the service charge and then attempt to direct deposit the remaining refund balance into the account that you entered on your tax return.

For the status of your tax refund you will need to contact the third party processor, Santa Barbara Tax Product Group, using their website - https://www.sbtpg.com/
