In the desktop version of the 2022 TurboTax Deluxe it is not calculating the itemized deductions correctly. TurboTax is saying standardized deduction, $12,250, when it should be $10k (max on taxes) plus mortgage interest, $7.3k, for a total of $17.3k. I talked to an expert two days ago and he was stumped as well. I was put on hold and then got disconnected. I have used TurboTax for over a decade. This is the first time I have had a problem.
If you are not getting the deduction, you must have marked the interest not used to buy build or improve your home.
OR you checked the option to force the standard deduction.
Desktop user, inspect Schedule A to see where the error is.
I hope you can answer this question, as the TT expert. My daughter has the same problem, today, March 5, and many other do too. She called TT and they couldn't figure it out and after 2 hours were going to get a supervisor. Then, she lost the connection. Please advise. She has tried all of the fixes that have been suggested here and other places. Apparently it is a Bug. Please advise. Thank you.
This is UNACCEPTABLE. I've done my taxes THREE times- even requested a replacement download link from Costco where I purchased the original and still had the same problem. To make matters worse, even though I have an Intuit account, when I called customer support (joke) the mindless annoying answering system didn't recognize my email or phone and would automatically disconnect me every time.
I've been using T. Tax for years but never again after this experience. They are not even making an effort to fix their mistake which is nothing but wrong and irresponsible.
I would like to take a deeper look at this. However, I need a diagnostic file which is a copy of your tax return that has all of your personal information removed. You can send one to us by following the directions below:
Yes, I had the exact same issue with my taxes. Also have been using TurboTax for 15 plus years and had never had such a problem.
When my Federal Taxes due were found to be considerably more than expected, I went to the Tax History under FORMS Tab. When compared to the previous tax year information, I discovered that under various Itemized Deductions on Schedule A, conspicuously missing was the mortgage interest paid in 2022.
I checked under Deductions and Credits, and verified that the Mortgage interest for 2022 was entered; however, TURBOTAX did NOT include it. So, I manually entered in the worksheet and voila!
Interestingly, my State Tax Refund is $2 more than the amount due on Fed Taxes. I am happy to report that I am rich by $2!!!
Standard Deduction for 2022 is NOT, $10,000 $12,950 for single filers and those married filing separately, $25,900 for joint filers, and $19,400 for heads of household.
The $10k limit is on State Taxes and Property Taxes combined.
Hello,
I did not notice this year, but until now and i think I would like to know if I need to refile my 2022 taxes? What can I do to find out?
You need to review your 2022 taxes and see if the mortgage interest deduction was included on your tax return.
