Encountered this same error on Feb 19 2022, form was generated by TT in error, we do not have any dependents, filing jointly both retired. Stupid error, TT staff needs to fix. Thank you.
Don't have children, why am I receiving this message about advanced payments received?
Everyone has to answer whether they received advance child tax credit payments. If you did not receive any of those payments between July and December you need to answer that you did not receive any payments.
There are so many scenarios with those payments---like divorced/never married parents who have issues over who received the payments, who claimed the children, etc. --- the software has no way of knowing if any of that involves you---so you have to answer the questions about it.
Please follow these steps to indicate you did not receive any advanced payments:
It's just odd that we even get this problem and even more that we need to 'delete' any forms.
Like most others have said, I have no dependents, did not select or indicate any, but still get this 'fix me' during smartcheck. Sounds more like a bug in the software. Does anyone that can do anything about it even monitor here?

Everyone is being asked this question since TurboTax does not know if the user was one who received these advances from the IRS in 2021.
Enter a 0 (zero) when asked to enter a number on the Schedule 8812. This will correct the issue and remove the Schedule 8812 from your tax return so that you can file the return.
I have no children and should get no tax credit per Schedule 8812. However, when I click file my taxes I am referred to 8812 Part A and am asked to provide inane answers about my supposed children so I cannot efile. What's the problem.

Awesome! that solved the problem
My view: the fact that the IRS want us childless filers to include Schedule 8812 seems to indicate a misunderstanding for the purpose of that Schedule. Sort of an intelligence test failure. Really?

IM not replying to the question I have the same problem about Advance payment entry required??
Seems curious that IRS all of sudden wants everyone to answer this. We are retirees with no dependents for a decade. I'll put 0 just to move on. But seems like it's a blip in the TT program.
Why am I getting error in form 8812 and did not even have any dependent ??
