Unfortunately this is not true. Numerous of the same complaints are saying that when they check on their return status on the IRS website it says that we were claimed as a dependent and this caused our AGI to be increased. I can speak for myself as homeowner and I have not been claimed on anyone else’s taxes in over 2 years. Even after the IRS explained this information,. My refund went from $1600 to $237. According to my newly opened credit karma bank account (I will be closing this account) I received a refund of $64 and I DID NOT AGREE NORE MADE AWARE of this change and we demand answers that are lawfully backing otherwise we will be taking legal action

We have been using Turbo Tax for years and this is the first time my refund came from them and not the IRS. It is over 2400 short. We filled out the forms exactly as turbo tax said. We will not be using turbo tax again and will be getting in touch with the IRS to find out exactly what is going on.

Not even the IRS website is updated. There is "no information available at this time" I did however, receive the long awaited letter..... To no surprise, the information and "explanation" was a completely useless 2 lines of numbers. In the end end, it says to call them for detailed information & if you don't do something by May, they will consider your case closed. 😒

I had the same issue. You’re saying whatever amount entered from the stimulus “should not have made your refund go up”, but it did. I have always used turbo Tax and my refund never came from TPG products. My refund came back 1600 less. Turbo Tax does not charge 1600 dollars to do your taxes so do not try and say that’s a service fee. 
This is very shady. Will NOT be using again.

To everyone.......

1,400 or 2,800 (or multiples) is the 3rd Stimulus payment.  Did you already get the Stimulus payment they sent out last year starting March 2021? The IRS has records that show you were sent the 3rd stimulus payment so they removed the $1,400/2,800 Recovery Rebate Credit.

 Do you have an amount on 1040 line 30?  You might have tried to claim it again.   Line 30 is only if you didn't get the full amount or qualify for more. 

Double check your bank statements and check your IRS account to see what they sent you.  Check both IRS accounts if married.

Well I have 2800 online 30 so if that means I’m trying to claim that, wouldn’t that mean I would get more back and not less?

My account had an addition yesterday there was no deposit shown from anyone or any other explanation I couldn't figure out. Today there was a deposit from TPG products SBTPG LLC saying the same amount I had never heard of this company and was confused even more, but at least I knew where the money was from but why? So I started the search on what is TPG products SBTPG LLC and here I am. My income tax is very short 4200  dollars. I'm definitely in for that lawsuit. someone is going to pay back every penny of what is due me. I'm also calling the Attorney General's office and putting in a complaint with them everyone else should too in whatever state you live in.

Yes, the IRS website had the corrected amount. I had put on line 30 the amount of my recovery check. 1400$ I should have left it blank (0) as that does indicate I received it. IRS knew I got it so they changed the line back to zero and deducted 1400 from my return.  I do feel it was misleading as I feel TurboTax asked a question and then auto populated  the 1400$. But that is my lesson learned.

@jamcar99    Yes it you had it on line 30 then you were claiming the credit again and the refund on line 34 & 35a was too much.  So if you already got the deposit during the year the IRS took it off your return and reduced your refund.
