I had the same thing happen,I was supposed to gotton back 2717 but barley got 1000,how do I get the rest of my money?
You probably already did receive all you are eligible for. What is happening a lot this year is people entered $0 when asked how much they received for the recovery rebate (or the Advanced Child Tax Credit). In reality, they did receive the money, usually by direct deposit. So, the IRS says, hey, we are not paying you this $1,400 again, you can only have it one time. So the IRS then adjusts your refund and removes that extra $1,400 per person on your return.
Take a look at your bank statements going all the way to March of 2021. Many people find that they did actually receive it, but they forgot about it or just never noticed it.
SORRY VANESSA A FROM TURBO TAX..... I ABSOLUTELY DID NOT ENTER **ZERO** I HAVE PROOF I ENTERED EXACTLY WHAT THE IRS DIRECTED ME TO ENTER. SOMEWHERE SOMEBODY MESSED UP, I SPENT A SIGNIFICANT AMOUNT OF TIME CHECKING, DOUBLE CHECKING, TRIPLE CHECKING AND QUADRUPLE CHECKING EVERYTHING BEFORE I SUBITTED. I KNOW IM RESPONSIBLE FOR MY OWN TAXES AND I DON'T WANT TO GO TO JAIL, SO BELIEVE ME WHEN I SAY I KNOW WHAT I ENTERED. THIS IS ABSOLUTELY IN YOUR SIDE. FUTURE IT OUT, GIVE ME MY MONEY OR WE'RE GOING TO COURT!!!!!!!;
I did the same thing and my federal return was $3666 and state was $596 which is a total of $4262. I just got a credit to my acccount the other day of $1692 which is $2570 short. What the hell is going on?! I was banking on this money to catch up on my mortgage and this is devastating to me at this time.
I also file single and claimed the $1400 stimulus payment. I never received a letter from the IRS...
claimed that I received the $1400 stimulus payment*** This refund amount as after I claimed that I received it.
Federal and state come from different places at different times. So your 1692 deposit was for Federal only. If the IRS adjusted your return they will mail you a letter saying what they changed.
Check 1040 line 30. A common reason this year is if you tried to claim the Recovery Rebate Credit (for the 3rd Stimulus 1,400 per person) when the IRS already sent it to you. Line 30 is only if you didn't get the full amount or qualify for more. Not the amount you already got.
Or you might have tried to claim too much for line 28 Child Tax Credit.
Okay, so I was supposed to get $3666 back in federal and i only got back $1692. That is a $1974 difference. I didn't claim a tax credit and I wrote the $1400 in as instructed as receiving the simulus. Where can I go next to see wtf is going on. This is BS. I will never use turbo tax again if I dont get my money and I will post this every. I have over 100k followers on my cooking channel on IG alone and over 300k on TikTok. Someone needs to get this explained. I don't mind if it can be explained but Im not just going to let someone rob me of almost $2k. This is bad.
And VolvoGirl, please read all of my posts where I clearly say I filed single and claimed that I did, in fact, receive the $1400. Those are not possible reasons for me this year as my ex claims our 1 kid and I claimed that I did receive the $1400 on my return.
So just checking. You do NOT have the 1400 on 1040 line 30? Line 30 should be blank or zero.
** heads up everyone ** there are people on tiktok talking about this problem now. The numbers of complaints are piling up TurboTax!
Your link is broken or can no longer be found. I find this strange….
I received three thousand less and I entered 2800 on line 30! What gives?
This will be a frustrating tax season for a lot of reasons. But the overarching concern for millions of Americans will be how to claim their stimulus payments.
And it’s all going to come down to what people put on Line 30 on their tax form. That’s the line on Page 2 where you claim the “Recovery Rebate Credit,” better known to struggling households as the stimulus payment.
Here’s what you need to know about claiming a stimulus payment on your tax return this year.
Who has to fill in Line 30
If you received the full amount due for the first and second round of stimulus payments, including any payments for eligible children, you don’t have to do anything.
“You only make an entry on Line 30 if you are actually claiming the credit,” according to IRS spokesman Eric Smith. “Otherwise, you leave it blank. “If you already know you already got the full amount, there’s no reason to bother with any of it.”
There’s already been some confusion — even among tax professionals — about Line 30, with one preparer telling me he thought people had to put down how much they received for both payments. He was wrong.
You may claim the credit if you didn’t get a stimulus payment or if you didn’t get the full amount you were due for yourself or for any eligible children, says Lisa Greene-Lewis, a certified public accountant and tax expert for TurboTax.
The stimulus payments were based on your 2018 or 2019 tax year information. However, the eligibility for the recovery rebate credit is based on your adjusted gross income on your 2020 tax return. So, if you earned too much and didn’t get advance stimulus payments but your income dropped last year, you may still be eligible to claim the credit when you file your return.
What exactly do I put on Line 30?
You will only fill in the amount of the total credit you are due from either the first or second round or both. If you received a partial payment you would include the balance of the credit you are owed.
My Fed. Refund is over $2,500 short. TurboTax CRS doesn't what's going on and you can get SBTPG LLC on the phone. I don't have a mix up between State and federal tax refund. TurboTax need to need to fix the situation ASAP. These corporation are quick to take your money than provide **bleep**ty service and don't even set a way for you to talk to a live person. TurboTax & SBTPG LLC you all have a lawsuit coming
