The website you posted even says only the House of Representatives passed the bill in January of 2024. And then makes no further mention of the bill being passed in the Senate or being signed into law by the President.
And goes on to speculate If the CTC program restarts in 2024,
We understand the desire to believe that you are going to soon begin receiving monthly child tax credit payments; we take no pleasure in bearing the bad news that those payments will not be occurring. If you still do not believe that you will not receive a CTC payment soon, please post back when a check arrives in your mailbox or a deposit appears in your bank account.
It’s super frustrating to read that the CTC Payments for 2024 are not happening today. I myself didn’t think it was real until I seen article after article confirming it a couple of months ago. What’s more frustrating, is that now on the day when payments were supposed to go out — when you Google, hardly anything pops up. There’s a reason why so many people thought payments were happening today. We all didn’t just imagine the influx of news and articles confirming it a couple of months ago.
I attached the screenshot I took a couple of months ago when I was told about the CTC Payments for 2024 and started googling it. If they weren’t real and hadn’t received ‘final’ approval then, I wish it would have been disputed THEN and not the day payments were supposed to start. Super frustrating, and quite frankly a little sketchy.
@hb2014 just remember that is a lot of bad info on the internet, some put there by scammers. What you posted may have been from the IRS if the bill had been enacted into law or maybe even from from an IRS thread for the 2021 CTC
@Dkoon211 re is a lot of bad info on the internet. some put there by scammers or others who don't fully read or comprehend the thread
For 2024, the CTC is expected to expand to a monthly payment of $300 per child, with payments speculated to begin in mid-July 2024.
The Tax Relief for American Families and Workers Act of 2024, passed by the House of Representatives in January 2024, aims to expand the credit further. While the program’s specifics for 2024 remain undecided, it is speculated that the CTC payments might restart in mid-July 2024, with monthly installments expected to follow the 2021 schedule.
the items in bold mean it isn't yet law. Blame the Senate which hasn't passed the bill.
Whether the influx of articles and news were from “scammers” or those who don’t “fully understand” — I still feel as though there should have been more done to dispute it before now. If it wasn’t true, you would have thought there would have been a statement from the IRS or someone stating it was not true long before now. If there was, I never seen it.
There is no date fix because the Senate hasn't pass the act. There is a lot of bad info on the internet. some put there by scammers or other who don't understand what has to be done for new federal laws to take affect. might even be an act of Russian disinformation to get some voter angry at politicians
@426717 did you read this in the thread
Since the program hasn’t officially begun for 2024m, the exact fate is subject to confirmation by the IRS.
the Senate has not passed it thus the President can't sign it and until both acts are completed, there nothing for the IRS to pay.
But I expect scammers to be active with websites that will offer to get people there missing CTC advance payment for a fee. Don't fall for them. there is no advance payment.
False information.
It is false information
@CPANY this thread has lots of posts and links. Which one you are referring to is false?
Ah. I see. Sadly, when you click reply on a post, it doesn't connect the reply to that post. As many have already said, the CampColley.org references are not accurate, as are the posts on NCPLBC.org. There are a few references to an IRS site that appears not be be a valid link anymore. I was just chiming in. As a CPA with over 40 years of experience, none of this surprises me. Back in the day it was word of mouth, over the phone, about tax credits and deductions that turned out to be nothing. We live in an age where a lot of information is thrown around without any solid support. Caveat Emptor.
@Grannyof3 this website contains unconfirmed information about tax credits. It is not a reliable source.
