What a joke!
It is a joke. But unfortunately the joke is on us for giving them our money and expecting to get what we paid for.
This is what happens when a company does not care about their customers anymore. They do not care that hard-working people like us need our tax refunds to pay for our bills and other living expenses. They do not care that their mistakes cause us stress and worry, and waste our time.
All they care about is that ignorant consumers keep paying $$$ for their buggy software, so that the executives at Intuit can afford their nice homes, cars, vacations. Screw the average taxpayer like us. We are like ants to them.
Everyone just needs to post a link to this thread on Intuit/turbotax's social media platforms. They'll start to notice really quick!
After updating with this new update on Feb. 12, 2020, I filed my taxes and was rejected. When I go back to Turbo Tax, It's saying that I need to wait for Feb. 20, 2019!! (wrong date, I think they meant 2020) Why release an update on Feb. 12, when you are obviously not ready! I noticed that the calculations generated by Turbo tax on Form 8936 was wrong. This is very disappointing!

See this TurboTax support FAQ for the 8936 calculation error - https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/tax-topics/help/form-8936-qualified-plug-in-electric-drive-motor-v...
This whole process with Turbotax has been a real cluster f#$k! They should refund our filing fees this year!
I used the form 8936 that was available on 02/12/20 and now i have a rejected file advising me that my return is on hold pending ongoing updates? This will not be available until 02/20/20?
@glc59 More like 2/21/2020, because everyone knows the best time to get something done in the government/bank is EOD Friday 🙄
nope. Submitted my return, and it got rejected....Now Turbotax says wait till 2/20...
Exact text of rejection email :
FDI_8936_EVCredit_ErrorHold - Your tax return is on hold pending ongoing updates to calculations on Form 8936, Qualified Plug-In Electric Drive Motor Vehicle Credit. We plan to have the updates to the form done on February 20th, 2019.
@mogambo The bug says it won't be fixed till "2/21": https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/tax-topics/help/form-8936-qualified-plug-in-electric-drive-motor-v...
Incorrect, they did not. The paper form was released on 1/29/2020 with no revisions since 2019.

I bought a Prius Prime and should get 100%. The tax is calculated correctly but still got rejected after 5 days pending.
This means the reject is from TurboTax, not from IRS. TT knew their 8936 is wrong for some case on 2/13, the same day of its release, so they hold all efiles with 8936, made the status as Pending. And the customer supporter here kept saying Pending means the efiles already send to IRS.
Bad programmer, bad QA tester, bad CS, overall what a bad company.
Something tells me it may be better to wait till 2/21 so we don't take the risk of this happening again if somehow the form isn't updated till the end of the day 2/20. The least they could do is come on this thread and try to calm this down. Probably no one monitors it anyway.

If you read through all the posts on this thread you will see multiple responses by TurboTax employees concerning this issue.
You mean the multiple worthless responses?
