Does the 21 day processing time include weekends?

So true!

Does the 21 day processing time include weekends?

21 days is not a magic number - it is just an average.

TurboTax only gives the general IRS (most returns are processed within 21 days) date. The actual date is known only by the IRS. TurboTax also does not adjust the general date for anything on the tax return. TurboTax receives no feedback from the IRS after filing.

The IRS says most refunds will be issued within 21 days - some faster, some longer.

Each tax return is evaluated on it's own merits. There is no first-in-first-out. Two similar tax return submitted at the same time can have totally different processing times based on IRS criteria for examining tax returns that the IRS does not divulge.

Some returns will be held for ID verification or other verification. The IRS will send a letter if they require more information to process your tax return.

What’s going on is that the orange turd who gave the biggest tax breaks to the billionaires during the first term that we were subjected to is set to expire this year unless congress reauthorizes it.. That is the real reason that musk is auditing government agencies. Because they need to come up with the funds in order to continue to give these tax cuts to billionaires like trump and the CEO’s aka our new oligarchy before Orange turd declares he’s out new dictator. So they will be looking at every return thoroughly and make sure you pay anything that is owed

Hey bro did you end up getting your tax refund in yet?

You're posting in an old thread from last year.   Are you wondering where your tax refund is?

First, if you efiled, be sure your efiled return was accepted.   If using Online TurboTax, you can check at the Tax Home page.

If that showed your return was accepted, you can track your Federal refund at the IRS "Where's My Refund" tool:

https://www.irs.gov/refunds

If you filed a paper return by mail, it can take up to 4 weeks just to show up in that tool.

The FAQ below tells how to check on a state refund.   When you scroll down further there, you will see a link for your state.

Most returns finish processing within 21 days, but a lot do not.   Some can take considerably longer if the IRS requires extra processing.    If it goes longer than 21 days, you can phone the IRS to see if they can tell you anything about the delay.

Here's the IRS phone number, but it's too soon to call.

IRS: 800-829-1040 (7AM-7 PM local time) Monday-Friday

Oh.... if you had to ID Verify, you may have a significant wait.   A FAQ at the IRS website states that after ID verification, it "may" take up to 9 weeks to finish processing.   However, it doesn't necessarily take that long.  For many, it can be a lot sooner than that.    That's why they say "may" and "up to."   No one can tell you when that will be.  You'll just have to keep watching the WMR tool every few days.

That's not what I meant. The notice means they wanted to verify that it was your tax return.    I was not referring to any ID document.  You should not have to upload an ID document with that method.   The IRS verification process works exactly as you described.  Normally, you get an IRS notice in the mail with a 14-digit control number, and use that to verify it's your return along with some other questions.  They were wanting to find out if it was you that filed the return.   If you completed the instructions, and it told you that you were finished, then all you can do is wait and check the WMR tool every few days.
