Do I need to include/file for my in-laws that used to live with us in 2022, but no longer live in the US and not planning to come back?

My in-laws were planning to live in US and got here and lived with us a few months in 2022. On my 2023 tax return, I claimed one of them as dependent, and the other one had enough income to file their own, and they did. They're no longer living in the US and not planning to come back again. So since they never been to US during 2023, I know they're not my dependents anymore, but do I have to file on their behalf? I just don't want IRS to show up at my door and say "this is their address, why didn't they file taxes?" 🙂

No.   You do not file a tax return for your family member.   People move all the time and people leave the country.  If they did not live in the US during tax year 2023, they do not have to file a 2023 return.

And.....the return you are preparing now is a 2023 return.  You may have claimed on of them on a 2022 return that you filed in 2023.
