Assets costing less than $200 and Section 179

Is it true you do not need to depreciate business assets costing less than $200?

I was told you can expense those assets in the year they were purchased.

Does the IRS provide information on how to expense assets costing $200 or less?

Assets costing less than $200 and Section 179

you include them in one of your expense categories or create your own like "small tools". you do not capitalize and depreciate them.
